If b12 comes back okay, what next?

I'm feeling crap at the moment - tired, a bit depressed, keep getting weird feelings I random body parts, headaches. I'm getting my b12 levels checked but if they come back okay, what should I look at next? Thyroid, diabetes and FBC have all come back normal.

I've been to the doctor's three times now and I feel like they don't want to take me seriously.

How tired are you?
Just a bit more tired than usual, or so tired that your entire body feels like it's been hit by a bus?

I'm somewhere between the two. I'm really struggling at work because I'm exhausted towards the end of my shifts.

Folate levels as well?

B12 & Folic Acid work together to help absorb iron.

Think you need good b12 to absorb folate properly, and good folate to absorb the iron properly iirc.

(Am not a doctor or anything remotely medical though, this is just something I've been through myself).

Vitamin D
Iron stores -particularly ferritin levels, I've had to be prescribed Iron Sulphate after latter was virtually non-existent and was exhausted/hair falling out etc.

I might buy a vit D supplement tomorrow.

I was checked for anaemia a month ago and told my iron levels are fine.

Please don't buy Vit D - wait until they have tested your levels (HCP here).

I would have your thyroid gland levels rechecked.

Full blood works all looked at together should give a better picture.

For eg a couple of time my iron levels came back as just above the minimum ok level, but looked at in conjunction with everything else they were too low.

I can't remember the technicalities, but it was something like I had small blood cells & the volume of cells was low.
So although my iron levels were technically good there wasn't enough of it.

Also, iron stores are important too - once your stores drop below a certain level then it means you use all the energy quickly with nothing in reserve.

B12 needs to be at least 500 and probably nearer 1000 to be optimal.

Being inside the reference range is not good enough.
