Montelukast: any experiences?

Anyone taken Montelukast for asthma? The GP has just prescribed it for me and I was quite excited to try something new, until I read about the weight gain people have experience with it. The last thing I need is more weight flopping on. Am interested to hear if anyone else has taken this and if they've experienced weight gain?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure if it's different in children but my dd has taken it for years and is still very slim.

Thanks, mrstiggy - am finding so many reviews of it where people have gained significant amounts of weight, it's scaring the pants off me. I'm already a porker (and can't let go of the cake...) so have to be careful. I'm hoping to balance it out by hearing from people who haven't gained weight!

I've been on it for years and am ever so grateful to the doctor who prescribed it. Despite a long history of allergies and my asthma being badly managed despite stronger and stronger preventatives being suggested by my asthma nurse, she wasn't keen to try anything else. One 5 min chat to the doctor when I couldn't get in to see the nurse and he prescribed Montelukast (Singulair). I've not looked back and my asthma has been much better managed.

As far as weight gain, I've gained weight in the last couple of years. BUT I've been on the montelukast longer. And am taking strong anti epileptic medications for nerve pain that also cause weight gain and I'm sure they are to blame, not the montelukast.
