Lupus, plaquinel and other brands of hydroxychloriquine

I wasnt quite sure how to word the title. I have Lupus and take hydroxychloriquine for it. I've always taken branded plaquinel but now that's been debranded you can't get it and for some reason I just don't get on with other formulations particularly quinoric or any others with yellow fillers it seems.

My pharmacist was able to get another brand the same formulation for 6 months now that's run out I'm on a generic version I said I'd try for a couple of weeks. I'm starting to feel poorly again though, feet hurt, exhausted etc

Anyone else have this trouble and know of the best brand similar to plaquinel?

I have RA and take Hydroxychloroquine. The only brand of it I can take is Zentiva...its in a light green box. The others make me feel really sick constantly.

Yes Zentiva is what I've been getting since they've been unable to get plaquinel and it's been fine for me. I just seem to flare if I take any others.

Spoke to my rheumatology department today and they are unaware plaquinel has been debranded Confused

But my pharmacist said she is going to phone around suppliers to try and get me Zentiva. I'm having an ongoing issue with this! Thanks for your reply

I can't get anything but Quinoric. I've heard that Zentiva is very good.

The hospital pharmacy gave me the Zentiva ones when I was first diagnosed. I really struggle with taking medication as I seem to get really bad side effects from everything so I said Id try Hydroxychloroquine before going to Methotrexate. I was absolutely fine with the Zentiva ones then my local pharmacy gave me the Quinoric ones and they made me feel constantly sick.

Spoke to my Rheumatologist and she wrote to GP to only specify Zentiva to pharmacist so now on my prescription it says ZENTIVA BRAND ONLY so I always get the Zentiva ones.

I only had Plaqunil once, its always been Quinoric or Hydrocychloroquine.
For the life of me I can't remember the pharmacy I got the Plaqunil in. Though it doesn't matter now.

Thanks everyone! Yes I used to have plaquinel only on my prescription. So Zentiva is definitely still available from all I hear then so it's just a matter of finding a pharmacy who can get supplied with them!Hospital pharmacy is looking into it too.

It's ridiculous though two weeks on these yellow generic ones and I'm so not well, I'm utterly exhausted, pain all over my feet and legs and dizziness and yet the doctors so often don't listen when I tell them this. I should just tell they make me feel sick as they do often seem to cause tummy upset.
