Abdominal pain - low down, one sided

Can any one reassure me here... I have pain in my abdominal area, quite low down on the right hand side. Started on Sunday, pain increased as time went on - was taking paracetamol but no relief.

Tuesday my lower back started to ache on the right side and became really painful. I had to take ibuprofen (normally don't as have reflux) and although it helped I was still in pain.

Thursday now and the pain in my back has went down a bit but stomach pain still there. It's sore when I move and I feel quite bloated.
I have had the stomach pain before but not this bad.

What can this be? I was initially thinking IBS or something but bowel movements etc all fine. I've googled.... I shouldn't have done that!

Any chance at all that you could be pregnant?
Any fever, diarrhoea or vomiting?
Have you ever had appendicitis?

Have you any pain in your shoulder on the same side? Could you be pregnant?

Do you feel nauseous at all?

Appendicitis?

Defo not pregnant!

No fever, vomiting etc. feel ok, just tired really.

Would appendicitis not be excruciating? This is painful but bearable...

Endometriosis?

My appendix burst on Christmas Day - pain did become excruciating in the end (on Christmas Day itself) but it had been rumbling along for about a month.

Back pain would make me think possible UTI.

Either way you need to see a doctor OP.

I know, silly really to try and guess and ask on here.

I will try and get to docs tomorrow.

Endometriosis was crossing my mind as I have quite heavy periods. Years ago after having DS I had a scan for similar pains but nothing was found. Actually just remembered about this! Was told it could just be adhesions - whatever that means?? Anyway, pains went away so I never followed it up.

This pain has been on and off for a few months now I think.

At a very basic level adhesions are basically what endometriosis is: tissue glueing itself to other tissue. Like if you imagine scar tissue that's sort of what it is.

Poor you - a few months is long enough to be having pain for, even if it is sporadic. I think you need the GP to give you a gyne referral.

Whereabouts is it exactly? I have the same pain between my belly button and pelvic bone on right hand side, radiating through to my back, had loads of tests and nothing comes up. I have possible PCOS but apparently that doesn't cause abdo pain in this region. You do need to go and get some tests done but it could be so many different things in the abdominal region that we can only make wild guesses. It could be gynae or kidney or bowel related. I am wondering if mine is muscular as I've carried my daughter one sided for 3 years.

I get pains like this every month around the time of ovulation. It's very painful and uncomftable and also I bloat out. Gives me back pain as well. Perhaps make a note when you get the pains and see if there is a pattern.
It does no harm to pop to doctors and it checked though. It also could be ibs which is awful
When it flares up and the pain moves around.

It could be anything. Are you mid-late cycle? If so could be an ovarian cyst ...

diamond457 · 07/04/2016 21:22

Sounds like ovarian cyst does the pain go into your groin?

Mrsmulder · 07/04/2016 21:22

Do you have the coil at all? That caused me to have lower, right abdo pain. It went when I had the coil removed

I am about mid cycle now, so I wonder if it's related? I wish I'd been paying more attention to when it's been happening before.

I could be any of these things or nothing I suppose. I will see what doctor says.

Thank you for all your replies - it has helped me calm down a bit. I should never Google!

No coil.

It's hard to pin point the pain but yes, it's low down. The back pain (which has almost gone now) was on my side travelling down onto my bum cheek.

If it's an ovarian cyst - will it need treatment? I have several cysts on my breasts but no treatment required.

Kidney stone?

If it's a cyst it will completely depend on size. If I remember correctly (and I might be wrong) they leave anything less than 5cm.

What happens if you jump up and down a bit? or skip?

I would get it checked out at the doctors.
