Daily chest pains

This started 3 weeks after giving birth so 2 week ago. When I had the first one I thought I was having a heart attack and went to A&E. All my stats came back fine and the nurse said I "must just be exhausted" which was utter dribble as I take shifts with my OH with the baby and I'm not tired at all.

They've been daily ever since. It's a heavy pressure like I can't breathe and a sharp pain, the pressure lingers when the pain goes. I've now started getting lighting sharp pains in my right temple all day every day. I went to the GP who checked my legs for swelling (I was concerned about blood clot) then sent me on my way saying it was stress/anxiety.

I've had anxiety for 10 years and it's not that. This is real, severe pain that I feel is being totally ignored because I have something else they can blame.

No-one will do any further tests and I feel I'm going to be one of those horror stories where I will drop dead in the street "suddenly" because I was fobbed off with ibuprofen. I know there's something really not right with my body. I get pins and needles in my arms and almost a drunk feeling. My symptoms are constant and totally debilitating I'm 25 btw

I'd be asking for a d dimer test in case of a blood clot which can happen after giving birth. Hopefully it is nothing but best to check.

You know your own body better than anyone else. You mention "stats came back fine" which tells us nothing really. Did you have an ECG and CXR?

Regardless, I would be heading back to A&E and demand a reassessment with a neurological doctor. You have a 2 week old baby to be concerned about, not the hospital nurse or doctors feelings. Good luck OP.

I would go back to A&E

I work in A&E sometimes and I don't know anyone who would have a problem with you going back.

If they do? Well tough luck, you have symptoms that needs full investigation and with it being the bank holiday A&E is probably the only way to go and I would not leave your symptoms until after Easter.

Thank you for your replies. I had the general blood pressure, blood sugar and an ECG but got the "you're fine" thing and I just know something isn't right. My biggest worry would be the clot especially as I was lay in bed most of my pregnancy. But was told as there was no swelling that they had no concerns about them

Go and get re checked.

I have suffered with anxiety for the last 10 years and often get this type of pain. Rest, relax, even if you don't feel too tired your body must be exhausted.

I'm surprised at this because blood clot (DVT/PE) don't always present with any signs in the leg and I would have thought most HCP are aware of that and would have done a few blood tests/ scans with your history of recent childbirth. I think you need to go either to A &E or a WiC and get seen again. Explain your symptoms and tell them what you are worried about. If you get fobbed off ask them WHY they are so sure you do not have either of the above.

I had pneumonia recently which was caused by pain when breathing, but at first they thought I had a clot. I had a 6 weeks old!

I was told that the d-dimmer test wasn't accurate in women who had recently given birth so I was sent for a ct scan (which showed the pneumonia nicely hidden behind my heart away from where standard X-rays could see it!)

Have they done a scan?

Oh and I also suffer anxiety Which is why I left it thinking it was that - until I finally went into the walk in centre and collapsed at the front desk

You would not be wasting A+E's time by returning - but some of your symptoms do sound like those of anxiety especially the pins and needles in your arms and drunk feeling which are normal when you hyperventilate.

I just have never had those pains from my anxiety before? I certainly didn't notice myself hyperventilating at the time I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong though. I have this awful gut feeling they all just think I'm a hypochondriac because I have anxiety.... But I literally never go to the doctors ever, this scared me enough into thinking I should on this occasion. Usually my anxiety prevents me from attending

Sothisis No they didn't offer any scans at all which part of me thought would surely be the only proper way they could check Obviously I don't know how to check for clots though lol, medical knowledge isn't my speciality
