Polyp on Cervix

Please can someone give me some reassurance?!
I was about to have a routine cervical smear test on Tuesday morning at my GP surgery, when the nurse spotted a small polyp on my cervix. I was told I would be referred to a Gynocologist to have it removed.
I suffer from anxiety and rang the hospital to get some more info. I'm ashamed to say I got myself worked up into a right old state but the nurse was wonderful and after speaking to one of the Gynocologists, told me to go up to the hosp for 4pm that same afternoon to have it removed!
I was thoroughly examined; the Doctor (who was also wonderful) said my cervix "looked fine" and that the polyp was small. I had had no symptoms from the polyp at all!
She gave me a smear test first before removing the polyp and said there was "basically 0% chance of the polyp being anything else." I am just anxious, even though they have assured me everything looked fine. I will have to wait about 2-3 weeks for the results but the nurse did say I could ring in a couple of weeks if I wanted to, to see if the results were back.
I'm just getting a bit worked up again and would appreciate hearing about other ladies who have had a similar experience. It sounds mad but as she did the smear test while the polyp was still there, I'm just worried it will affect the result (although a friend said to me that the polyp could have been anywhere on my cervix.)
See...? Overanalysing again...!

I also had a polyp on my cervix which was discovered during a smear. The nurse carried on with the smear test, and my GP removed the polyp in the surgery the following week, and sent it off to be tested - all fine. Apparently they are nearly always just benign tissue and can exist there for ages undetected. Try not to worry about it Flowers
