Lumps on joints turned purple

A couple of weeks ago dd2 (12) said she had some little lumps on her finger joints and on one of her toes. I couldn't really see them, but thought that the whole joint looked a little red. She said they hurt if she knocked them. I did a little googling and wondered if it was chilblains, however they don't itch.

Anyway this evening she was wandering round with no socks on and I said what have you done to your toe? The whole little toe was purple. We then noticed that the fingers that had lumps were also purple over the joints. Any ideas? Still no itching, just gets shooting pain if she knocks the joints with lumps on. She has chronic urticaria. Has had it for 3 years with unknown trigger. Don't think it's relevant, but thought I'd mention it!

Could be chilblains, they do really hurt. But I would also worry about juvenile arthritis, as urticaria can be auto-immune triggered. So I think you need to go to the GP to check. Hopefully it is just chilblains.

Oh crikey. I wasn't going to bother with the GP, but thought perhaps I'd go now that they look purple. I definitely will now you've said that. She has been complaining that her knee aches, but I assumed she'd landed awkwardly in pe.

Anyone else got any ideas? Not so purple today!

You need to see your GP. It's a nuisance but they need looking at.
