After having a vomiting bug on thursday and Friday last week, I developed a really itchy rash on the left of my back on Sunday evening which had got bigger by this morning. My GP says its shingles. Has anyone had this? Any experience of whether the rash gets worse before it gets better? My GP gave me acyclovir for a week. I'm worried as I have a toddler (who has had chicken pox- but only a mild version when she was 1 yr old) and a 4 week old baby who has never had chicken pox. I know you can catch chicken pox from someone who has shingles if you've never had it before. Help! Also what other symptoms did you have with shingles?

Hi op I had shingles a few months ago and you can only catch it if you have direct contact with the blisters, so keep a vest on all the time and wash your hands and little ones should be fine :)

I had it, they did continue to pop out for a few days. I didn't feel ill with it at all. Your kids won't catch it unless they licking it or touching it, don't worry X

Thanks Annie and Daisy- v reassuring! How long until the rash went away? And does it stop itching once it scabs over?

Not too long but I did have a bit of a red scar for a while where it had been. Itching didn't last long for me at all. Had that prickling pain in it for a few weeks but nothing major X
