Just got the two little Ds's to bed after a very long day, sat down to my cheese and red wine which I've been bloody looking forward to. dh in Paris with work. Just bloody sliced through my finger, there is blood everywhere. My fault for taking a big glug of wine then cutting the cheese with the pissing new bloody super sharp knife whilst reading shit on my iPad. It makes me feel sick to think that I only realised I was cutting my finger when it felt warm with the blood pouring out, I guess super sharp knives don't hurt like blunt ones. It fucking throbs like s mother fucker now though!!
Just glugged more wine whilst sat with tea towel now bright red wrapped up finger in the air. It's now dripping out the tea towel. I'm too scared look and don't want to wake dd5 and dd2 to what looks like a murder scene!!
Fook!! What shall I do?? Nearest friend is out for the night and my parents are with my sisters kids as she's out for the night!

Keep applying pressure and hold it up high to try and stem the bleeding. You'll need to look at some point! Could one of your parents come and help if you need to be seen by a doctor?

raise your hand above your head for starters - will help stop the bleeding

then sit down for a minute and deep breaths

My mum did this when me and my sister were tiny. She knocked on the next door neighbours door! Bit of a shock to the poor neighbour but one of them baby sat while the other took her for stitches !

Thanks all, my neighbour is 83 so can't really he doesn't know the Dd's, Am feeling a tad woozy not sure if it's all the wine I'm drinking though. I'm bloody confined to the kitchen, so I don't get blood over cream carpets in rented house. Ahhh. Parents are not answering their mobiles, they are crap at taking them out with them.
Shit fuck bugger

It doesn't sound good. You may well need stitches with that amount of blood.

Agree with pp... Can one parent come round whilst other stays with DNs?

Anyone you can get to answer their phone at this point. Feeling woozy and blood loss are not a good combination.

Has your sister got a landline you can call? Otherwise call any friend - I wouldn't mind if anyone called me.

Still trying to ring parents, no land line at sisters, can't go out house and leave DD's.
I have a fb group for school mummy friends that are local, all I can think of doing to see if someone will answer.
I'm a bit pissed though!

Stop drinking wine! Apply pressure, so take off the tea towel (you really have to look I'm afraid) then wrap something around it to hold it together, then raise your hand.

Have you got someone who can watch the DC and take you to minor injuries? You might need stitches.

p.s. I'm queasy as hell about injuries like this, so I do know how you feel.

Elevate it and keep pressure on then have a peep.
To be honest often parts of the finger can't be stitched.
You could try closing it with a strip of plaster or micropore then cover it and get it looked at tomorrow.
Id not sit in a abd e on a Saturday night 😳

Run under water while you grab a plaster, wrap plaster as tight as possible. If it bleeds through then you probably need stitches.

spanky2 · 06/02/2016 19:46

It needs to be raised for ages. Have a sugary drink for shock.

I did this a couple of weeks ago. The bleeding is impressive to begin with but it does stop if you keep hand raised and apply pressure. I had steri strips and used them to close the wound. If you have some they are as good as stiches.
It bloody hurts.

Post on your group for help, I'm sure someone will come round.
Is blood still pouring out?

Not posted anything yet. Trying to word it if anyone can tell me what to put would be most appreciated

Hi everyone

Had a bit of an accident with a new knife, some cheese and yes, ok, some wine was involved.

Think I need to head to A&E and can't contact parents and dh away. Is there any chance at all one of you could come round and watch the kids ( who are asleep) whilst I get a taxi to hospital?

Thanks!!

just something like 'I need to go to a&e, stupid accident, could you babysit as alone?'
