Vasculitis - what can we expect?

Mil has this and I'm concerned she's been in hospital so long. Coming up for 2 weeks. It has caused kidney damage and she is on steroids to limit damage. Renal biopsy tomorrow. What is outlook? Will she be able to go home soon? She has MS and had other issues.

I don't know if you're likely to come back, op. I asked the question as I have indirect experience of one particular sort.

Hi - not sure if you are still around , hope things are going ok and your MIL is out of hospital.

My mum's just - as in 10 days ago - been diagnosed with a rare form of vasculitis. Had been very unwell before Xmas, went into hospital for a kidney biopsy - thankfully relatively little damage to her kidneys - ended up staying a week. Is on a massive cocktail of drugs, steroids and weekly chemo infusions. Very early days, difficult to know when or if she will feel any improvement. She's in shock, I think.

My Dad was diagnosed with P type Vasculitis in Dec 2014 & had 6 months intensive chemo until July last year. He's 84 & the chemo has taken its toll on him - he also had a few setbacks as he has COPD & the lowered immune system means he picks everything up. However his kidneys are holding their own & there doesn't seem to be any further damage so at the moment he's just on a low dose of steroids. It was such a shock when he was diagnosed as he's always been a very strong man & he seemed to become very old almost overnight, but he's still here & fighting. Hope your Mum is ok & your MIL too OP if you're still around.

Hi Thx for replies. Still waiting on type of vasculitis but thankfully MIL is now home which is where she and FIl wanted. She was in over 2 weeks and now on cyclophosphamide and dex. Her kidney cells showed only 40% functional but hear she's slowly improving. We can't visit yet as kids and is keep getting colds etc but husband goes over occasionally. She had an outing to her granddaughter play so all going in right direction 😁
