I don't think that sounds very good. My DH got gout after being on antibiotics for too long. I think he should seek a second oppinion and check that it really is an infection. Unfortunately doctors only have time to treat symptoms and not address the cause of illnesses so we end up with one illness being cured at the expense of something else. Good luck

I'd get him to visit a homeopath instead.
Or even a cranial osteopath.
and take something to replace the good bacteria that keeps being killed off by the anti biotics.

I had a terrible few months with ab's after ab's for various things - terrible throats etc.
I eventually worked out that the ab's were making everything worse - I went to docs for a unrelated matter, got given ab's which led to a terrible throat which led to ab's etc etc
I stopped taking ab's - the last ones the dr prescribed I refused to take and started eating more fruits etc and eventually felt better

Thanks guys - he does have a very weak/damaged chest & has now been sent for a CT scan Xrays etc

So hopefully the AB's will stop

However I think steriods will be the replacement
