Is Doxycycline a 'no-alcohol' antibiotic?

The leaflet says 'don't drink alcohol', so I won't, but is this the one that makes you immediately very sick if you do have any alcohol? Or is it a general guideline not to drink while taking the course?

Metronidazole is the antibiotic known for making you really ill if you drink alcohol, but is it really a problem to avoid alcohol until you've finished the course?

This is what the NHS website says...
doxycycline – this is known to interact with alcohol, and the effectiveness of doxycycline may be reduced in people with a history of chronic alcohol consumption; it should not be taken by people with liver problems.

No, as I said in my OP, I won't drink, but I want to know how high to set my alertness threshold - what if someone offers me a truffle with brandy in it, or sherry trifle at Sunday lunch....

My liver is as far as I know fine (and I have not especially mistreated it) - I just want to avoid the bad effects of even tiny amounts of alcohol with Metronidazole.

I was on long term Metronidazole for years and still had a coouple of halves of beer on a Saturday with no ill effects. High dose Metro can make you feel very sick whether you've had alcohol or not.
