I am currently on my 6 th round of a bug over 7 weeks. It's the same every time; nausea, cramping and inflammation in bowel and thumping thumping headache. When it goes, the headache goes.

No diarrhoea or vomiting just vile vile headaches and abdomen pain. I have about 2 days when I feel better, then it starts all over again. I wash my hands manically. Is there anything I can do?

Could it be a type of migraine rather than tummy bug if your aren't actually sick or having diarrhoea

I'm not sure it's bad enough for a migraine. It's bad but I can still function. The abdomen pain and nausea are always the first symptoms

And each time the symptoms last for about 5 or 6 days

This is exactly how my migraines are and I too am in a cycle now. Mine have been on and off since early December. As my neurologist explained, migraine is not a headache, it is a neurological condition and therefore has many different symptoms and effects. I took a long time to be diagnosed because I fell into the trap of believing my headaches were not painful enough to be migraines. After many trials of various medications I have found that rest, keeping hydrated, eating healthily and regular sleep are my best preventatives. All of which went out of the window over the holiday period!! Ibuprofen helps a little too. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Forgot to mention that sometimes I get silent migraines which involve nausea, dizziness, exhaustion and photophobia. No pain at all! My consultant also confirmed that these are common too.
