My period is two weeks early!

It's been 16 days since my last period and 2 days ago I noticed dark red/brown blood in my panty liner. Yesterday I had more and by last night it was more red and period like. Today I put in a panty liner and it slipped (I use cloth pads) and the resulting blood in my knickers was definitely red. I don't have any cramping which I normally get and I have regular periods.
This has only happened once before and that was due to some medication that I was on and haven't now been on for a year. I don't take the pill and I'm only 26 so nowhere near menopause.
Anyone any ideas why I might be 2 weeks early??

Don't know why this might be, but stress can sometimes mess with your cycle. It's happened to me a couple of times when I've been really anxious. Have you been under stress recently? Anything that affects your hormones can also affect your cycle, like gaining or losing weight.

If it's something that's really concerning you, perhaps maybe make an appointment with your GP?
