Would you chase up for appointment yet? Growth on thyroid

Hi,

I was referred by my doctor for a scan of my thyroid as I had a tightening in my throat.
Scan was 2 weeks ago now.
The day after the scan my doctor phoned me to tell me that I had a well defined growth on my thyroid and she had referred me to the thyroid clinic, for a biopsy, marked urgent.
Now it will be 2 weeks on wednesday and I still haven't had an appointment through.
I am trying not to dwell on this and to try to just forget about it until I get the appointment but its hard.
I have looked on the NHS website and for any suspicious growth that you need to be seen within 2 weeks, is this normally followed.
I'm not even sure where I could phone to chase this up?
Would you wait for a while longer?

Hello,

I would phone just to check what is going on and when. I don't see the harm in finding out; as you say it's been 2 weeks. Hope all turns out well.

The British thyroid association are a very helpful charity for all things thyroid.

If I were you, I'd follow this up. It might take some time to find the right person, but get on that phone!

I would follow up especially as your Dr marked it urgent. Ask to go on the cancellation waiting list too ifar possible. There's less than a month to Christmas so it is important to get seen before the holidays or you may be put off until the new year.

Ask your surgery to follow it up. It's possible the referral has got mislaid. They will be able to chase this more effectively than you and hopefully you should be seen very quickly.

Ring the hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to the thyroid consultant's secretary.
