My DD (nearly 2) has been so different over the past week. She is totally off her food, hardly drinks, and is absolutely full of wind it's unbelievable! She won't go to bed at night (usually a good sleeper) but has her normal 2 hours in the day. She suddenly won't have her teeth cleaned, so I was wondering, are these normal "teething" symptoms? We've never had trouble before, but there's only the last back ones to come through. Please help me as I don't know whether to have her at the doctors...?

Always take a child to the GP when there are sudden inexplicable changes.

They would rather be bothered for a healthy child than have a sick one slip throught the net.

Ring in the morning and get her an apointment. The likelyhood is that unless he spots something straight away, he will ask you to bring her back in a couple of days if there is no improvement.

In the meantime, record everything..all food in and fluids in and out.Sleep pattern and unusual symptoms so that you can give an accurate picture when you go back.Take her temperature twice a day...increase to 4hrly if it becomes raised and check that he is happy for you to give calpol etc...if she gets a fever. I only say this as calpol can mask symptoms of pain etc...as can any painkiller.

Let us know how she is..

I've got her at the doctors at 3.30, she seems worse this morning. She's not interested in playing, she's so quiet although she has eaten a weetabix. Has anyone had any experience like this? Normally she loves calpol, but won't even have that now.

Hi, the doctor was useless. He checked all the obvious & all was fine.. ears, temp, etc. He told me to give her banana, i told him that i had but she won't have it,she normally loves it but won't touch it at the minute. To that, he had no answer, just said to keep an eye on her. She's still off her food, and only sleeps a few hours a night... just don't know what to think..?

I am going through the same thing with my two year old daughter. Usually she will eat pretty much anything put in front of her, but she is even rejecting chocoltae biscuits at the moment so I know something is not right! She has a chesty cold so I guess that may contibute to a loss of appetite but I shall watch your thread with interest.
