"Thickness" in breast. Any experiences?

I've been referred to the breast clinic following a doctors examination yesterday. I'd not found a lump, but sometimes when I leaned over my right breast would feel like it was "pulling", it sometimes ached- but it wasn't massively painful and sometimes my skin would have a cold spot.

She said there was a thickness there but no lump that she could feel (I can't really feel anything) and I've been referred on to check it out. The doctor didn't say much, I was in and out in about 2 minutes.

I've googled always a good way to convince yourself you're dying lol. But can't find much info on this. Anything I find online from actual people, they haven't come back to the thread, which is helpful Has anyone had experience of this before? Good and bad. Understandably I'm terrified, not for me but for my DC.

Thank you shouting. I've found it hard to function today, I don't deal with stress and anxiety well. And I've been snappy with everyone around me deserved lol but I could have been a little more tactful

Are you being referred on by your doctor? Do you have someone you can speak to in rl?

Yeah the GP has referred me on, I have to wait for the appointment now.

Not really, I'm trying to ignore it at the moment until I know if there's anything I need to report to people.

You'll be seen within 2 weeks so wont have to wait too long. Statistics say its most likely nothing at all. However getting it checked means you know for sure and can relax

Thanks LEM I sure hope so. Last autumn I had an urgent referral for an ear problem- I'm still waiting for my syringe apt

I just hope I went early enough, even though there was no lumps I've always had breast pain so thought it was just that to be honest.

I had something 2 years ago. All sorts of weird sensations. Dr described normal thickening and said she thought it was often muscle in breast tissue that caused this iccurance.Consultant said nodular but ultra sound was fine and discharged.

Not my experience but my mums: she had breast cancer and her symptoms were a definite lump - almost pebble hard and smooth with no associated sensation - nothing like you have described.

I know we should always get changes checked out (I found this thread as I have something similar and with my family history I'm panicking already) but I hope that this makes you feel assured that it should hopefully be nothing serious.

Sorry, I've only just had chance to come back to my thread. I hadn't heard anything so I rang my GP and found out my appointment is in a week. So I have another week to wait...

I don't think that what she felt is there anymore, DH is adamant that it's gone and he know my boobs lol. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's all clear, it could be denial but it's better than being upset ;) hope things are ok with you here

The vast majority of changes to breast tissue are benign but thickening can be a sign of BC so it is always worth checking out. Hopefully the breast clinic will put your mind at rest. There was a thread in "life limiting illnesses" the other week - all turned out well!

I wanted to just come back to this thread incase anyone was searching in the future for information or going through a worrying time. I had my appointment at the breast clinic, doctor could feel something but didn't think it was anything to be worried about. I had an ultrasound and it was glandular tissue, so I'm all clear and discharged. Thanks to all that offered support :)
