This won't necessarily be bad news will it? Can anyone reassure me so I don't have to spend a week fretting.

Last time I had a mole removed it was benign and I just got a letter to tell me that.

Just want to say that if yours is NOT black, raised and crusty, then it will not be a melanoma which I had and is the most dangerous skin cancer.

Despite this, mine was removed only just in time and 30 years later I am still here with no further problems.

There are other other types but are not dangerous. BIL had one of the non-dangerous types, had it removed and no problems since.

good luck.

Thanks digerd

My mole was black but not raised or crusty. I'm kind of thinking now that maybe it was dodgy and they just want to check they've removed it all, or something like that. It can't be too bad if they're asking me to wait a week for the appointment.

I just wish I didn't worry so much!

It isn't always clear cut whether a mole is malignant, or just in the process of changing. Sometimes they take a wider excision, more or less as a precaution. I've had two definite melanomas and one where it was borderline, but they were equally cautious with the treatment. My first was over twenty years ago and I too am still here. Early melanomas are relatively easy to cure by surgical removal. I think if they were worried, they might have called you in more quickly. Hope everything goes well.
