So worried as my Dads skin cancer has returned

Sorry this is a long post but I need to get this off my chest. My dad was diagnosed with a squamous cell in his nose 4 years a ago. The derm originally removed without a biopsy as he thought it was a basal cell so he had to endure a second bigger op with skin grafts. Then about 18 months ago he found a lump in his nose. His GP dismissed as a cyst even though he knew his history. He tried to persuade him to get a second opininon but he didn't. Then 6 months ago he decided the lump was getting better so went back to GP and he agreed to refer him. 6 weeks went by and he didn't hear anything. He checked with Drs surgery and they had cocked up and not sent through to Hospital. He had to wait another 6 weeks. A month ago he saw a surgeon who thought it was scar tissue inside nose from skin grafts and removed it without doing a biopsy first. Friday he was told that it was a squamous cell and tomorrow he has an appointment with a derm, surgeon and oncologist. Mum and Dad very scared but I am trying to remain positive. Do you think I have good reason to complain about treatment? Anyone any experience of this and what his options are?

You don't have good reason to complain but your dad most certainly does and I hope he takes this matter up with the relevant health authority because, given his history, the GP should have referred him immediately he presented with another 'lump' in his nose.

If your dad doesn't feel up to making a complaint he can name you as his representative so that you can handle the matter for him.

If you come back with an update following your dad's appointment we can determine the best way to present a complaint, but in the meantime I hope that tomorrow's outcome will not be as scary as your poor dad no doubt fears and that any further treatment he may need will be minimal.

Flowers I'll be thinking of you and your dps tomorrow and hope all goes well for him.

Thanks god only just seen this message. It's not that been positive so far sadly. It looks like the tumour is very large so derm thinks it been there for a few years. Surgery looks best possible outcome but needs MRI scan first. It will a very big op with reconstruction of his face after. Any advice at this stage greatfully received.
