I thought I would ask if anyone knows what this can be caused by.
Normally toothache seems to be worse at night but lately I have had pain in one side of my jaw, which only hurts during the day.
It's like a dull ache.
The dentist re-did a root canal last month and sadly that didn't stop it, though he said the tooth next to it (which is a crown) has a small space around the root tip which could be causing it.
He said he can only refer me for an apicoectomy for this and they are unlikely to do it given the prognosis.
I'm not sure what is causing the pain and what to do about it - I have a course of amoxycillin which I didn't take the first time round, as reading up, it seems that antibiotics aren't really helpful with teeth, and the pain went away after a few days.
Now a month later it has come back and has been hurting all day for two days. Not a severe pain but a nagging one and it's very hard to concentrate on anything else.
If anyone can shed any light on this I'd be really grateful - I don't want to lose the tooth he said it might be as it's a front one but tbh I'd do whatever it took to get rid of the pain.
Thank you to anyone who has got this far!
