How long for cough and crackly chest to self resolve?

I was really ill with d&v bug about 3 weeks ago but recovered to almost immediately develop a chesty cough. I have been coughing for 2 weeks and geek bit third by it all. At times my cheast is crackly and i can hear/feel it as i breathe. No temp though.

How much longer is reasonable to wait? cba to book dr appointment to be better by then or wait around for ages and be told these things fix themselves in time. Don't really want antobiotics if I can avoid it either.

Any OTC meds worth using. Def don't want an expectorant clough syrup and to cough more

I had a nasty cough earlier this year that lasted 8 weeks! Just when I thought it was going, it would start up again, it eventually went by itself. I would get yourself checked out by the doctor, just to be on the safe side. I've got a cold at the moment, this week I've made my own cough remedy of raw local honey (unpasturized) and raw organic virgin coconut oil with a little bit of cinnamon, it has worked wonders with my cough. Oh and for a OTC meds I found that broncostop was the best of the bunch, it comes in syrup and pastels, i liked this one most of all because it has some natural ingredients such as thyme and honey.
