FLOATERS.... Advice on how to live with them!!

I've read a few posts on floaters I got them around 3 months ago, they really depressed me and annoyed me at first after a while I got a little bit used to them. Then now they have seem to have got worse... I don't think I can keep getting used to them! I'm only 29 how many more am I guna get?? Has anyone who has them had or considered surgery? ??

I know it's easier said than done, but your brain will eventually filter them out so you don't notice them any more. While you focus on them, they can be really annoying! I got mine a couple of years ago, due to having Posterior Vitreous Detachment in both eyes (I'm 68 BTW, and it's REALLY common to get PVD as you age). I rarely notice them now, and they don't bother me when I do. Have you had any other visual disturbances such as flashing lights? If so, you need to have a proper eye examination at an eye hospital to rule out a detached retina. Surgery really isn't an option, these little black blobs are just clumps of cells that float in the jelly of the eye.

Thank you for replying that was my first post. No haven't had anything else with my eyes, I did go to the eye clinic when I got them the eye doctor said he couldn't see anything to worry about but he said he couldn't see floaters! ! I dont know how that works, I did read somewhere that when u get them at a younger age like me they are in a different place or something. I think it's because I had never heard of them before I got them so it's been horrible & it's so bright where I work lol bright lights and light coloured walls & floors there so bloody bad there.... I just hope I don't get more ????.

I've had them since childhood. I noticed them a lot more after I had laser eye surgery. But then after a while I stopped noticing them again. Hope you will too OP.

Ye my boyfriend has had them since he was young he says he's got loads and they don't bother him! Until I started going on about mine he never noticed his. I think you can have laser eye surgery on them but it's risky. Is that because you can see a lot clearer now?? Ud think they would be something they could do.

Yes my surgery was to correct vision rather than anything to do with the floaters. I do remember seeing Philip Scofield tweeting about having surgery for floaters once though. I remember thinking at the time I didn't think it was possible. I guess it depends how bad they are (and how much you can afford to spend on surgery!)

Has he really lol!! Well he does have the money I wud imagine, I think it's nearly 4 grand per eye! I'd just like to think if I ever came into any money I cud get rid of the little buggers. Yes I heard it can cause cataracts and stuff.
