I'm so scared. Please tell me I'm over reacting.

For the past 4 months I've had the occasional bleed after sex. It's not a lot and it's bright red blood. The last week though it has been every time I have sex. There's no pain at all.

I was having a bit of a feel inside to see if there was any pain and I felt a small lump in my cervix, about the size of a small pea. I've got myself completely convinced that I've got cancer. Please tell me it's probably normal.

I'm going to make an appointment with the gp on Monday but I think I'm going to spend my entire weekend stressing.

It could be a cervical erosion or something like that. Try not to panic too much (easier said than done I know!)

Are you up to date with your smears?

I had a smear after 3yo ds was born so I'll be due one another one in about 1.5 years. I'm only 26 so I keep thinking it is probably unlikely anything too bad. I'm so scared in case it is something serious though.

If you are on the pill bleeding after sex is more common apparently. I went to the GP a few years back after experiencing the same (and panicking myself!) and was told this.
They will probably give you an internal examination when you go to the GP and maybe arrange a scan.

It sounds more like a cervical polyp if you can feel a lump. Not serious and very common but go and see your dr.

Thank you all. I got into the habit of checking myself when I had a cool but it's been about 4 months since I checked myself last so I don't know how long the lump has been there.

I am on the pill, but I've never had bleeding between breaks or after sex before. I've been on and off it for 10 years.

Yes you're massively over reacting! Just try and calm down woman! You probably have a cervical erosion so just pop and see the doctor or nurse next week and take it from there

I've managed to calm down now that I've googled. I always try and refrain but this time it didn't send me into a tailspin. Seems the majority of lumps at polyps or cysts so will wait the doctor to put my mind at rest.

Now it's just the mole on my leg that will keep me awake at night...yes I'm falling apart!

Health anxiety is what you're suffering from. Just try and distract yourself with a book / nice food / a bath / some retail therapy - anything that takes your attention away from it

I don't think you are overreacting or have health anxiety. It would say that it is normal to worry if you have a new symptom and find a lump.

Having said this it is probably a little polyp or similar.

Well I went to the gp today. She said there's a lot of inflammation so will refer me to the gynaecologist. She did say she's sure there's nothing wrong, just cervical corrosion like last time. Didn't mention the lump though.
