Post pregnancy pelvic pain

I've got a 9 week old baby, and never suffered with SPD during my pregnancy, but the very front of my pelvis (pubic area) is really hurting now!

The birth was very fast but straightforward with no complications - has anyone else had this? I'm hoping it'll just go away on its own, but I don't recall having it with DC1. It's the sort of pain that makes me want to squeeze the bone hard (physically impossible, I know).

It is possible to have spd after birth, unfortunately. Get on to a physio in your maternity hospital. If they can't see you, they should be able to recommend someone who specializes in women's health. You will need guidance about good appropriate strengthening exercises for your core and pelvic floor.

It's possible it's spd .But just as likely is that something else is out alignment causing you to feel pain in your pubic/pelvic area as things tighten up to compensate.
I had spd in my pregnancy but also had and stil have a lot of pelvic pain (and in thighs) due to my hips keep popping out, which in turn causes ligaments in tigh muscles and public area to tighten up to compensate for the fact you can't put the correct loads through your joints properly. Am probably not explaining v well. But physio helps massively both for spd and for pushing wonky hints back to where they are supposed to be.

Don't suffer in silence OP, let them know so you can be given some physio and advice how to make better and also how not to make it worse. It could be SPD, I had this with both mine and am still dealing with chronic pain that originated from pregnancy. It might be something else, good to get an expert to look you over and nip it in the bud whatever is causing it. untill they see you doing pelvic floors and simple stretching wont hurt. Labour is a full thing to o through- fx it goes away for you

I gave birth 18 days ago and had pelvic pain for 6 days after. I stupidly didn't mention it to anyone but it hasn't returned

I have this! The midwife was fairly uninterested both during pregnancy and after. I think as it hurt with everything being pushed and stretched outwards it's now hurting with it all going back in ! Agony though 90% of the time.

If you had diagnosed spd Id push for a referral elsewhere flowers

I would recommend pilates for any of you still suffereing with this, might not be a 100% help but with physio included and posture advice too. Every time I go to a class I have reduced pain the next day. Yoga is good too but dont stretch too much. staying active but not aggravating it is good- use heat and painkillers to help with this. And see someone about it, you need to see a specialised physio, get referred through your GP

SweetPea it's entirely possible to suffer with SPD after pregnancy. My 'baby' is off to uni in Sept and I'm still suffering.

If you can afford it I would recommend you see an osteopath. Contact the Pelvic Partnership who will be able to put you in contact with one who is good at treating SPD in your area. An osteopath will be much more effective than an NHS physio, tbh.

you can just pop to your GP and get referred by them, sooner is better as the longer you leave it the heavier your baby gets and one continues to do things that make it worse. I go to a chiro which is very similar to an osteopath, helps too.
