Ruptured achilles - urgh!

I'm 4 weeks into a 10 week non- surgical achilles repair - over 80% ruptured. I've just come out of plaster and into a moon boot.

I was told not to take it off at all - but I'm wondering whether that's correct? I don't even want to think about what state my foot / skin / etc will be like after 4 weeks in a thick sock & boot.

I will call the clinic for advice but wondered whether any of you had done similar and if so, what you did about washing?

I'm not looking forward to trying to sleep - it feels like my leg is cooking already. :-(
