I have cystitis again. It keeps reoccurring, usually after sex if its more than about twice in 2 days, any suggestions on getting rid of it? I really dont want antibiotics again. Have tried cranberry tablets but these only work right at the beginning. Once it takes hold sometimes pulsatilla helps but what else can i try? Obviously tried drinking more and try to pee afterwards. Help!

I really sympathise with you OP. I'm currently MNing from the loo and have been here for the last 1/2 hour. Like you the attacks are sex-related. Also get cold, and empty bowels during attack (TMI). Cystopurin no effect. I avoid cranberry juice and very cold water which seem to trigger early cystitis feelings. An earlier thread recommended bicarbonate of soda (I think one tsp in a glass of water) which tasted foul but seemed to help. I have some trimethoprim left over so may take them later.

Apart from that one obvious solution is to avoid the triggers but that doesn't really help right now.

Good luck.

Are you doing all the usual stuff like weeing before sex and within 5 minutes of it all being over? And washing beforehand- both of you- and a quick wash of your bits afterwards?

I had recurrent cystitis for about three years. It was all consuming. I needed to know where the nearest toilets were wherever I went.

I've now kept it at bay by washing with a product I buy in France called Saforelle which is a little like femfresh. I wash with it before and after dtd and only ever use this in the shower for intimate washing. My dh also washes before dtd as he has felt so guilty in the past thinking that he's contributed to it.

I'm not sure if it's available in the UK.

It's also important to thoroughly empty your bladder regularly but especially after sex.
