Bleeding

Jo4040 · 22/06/2015 07:16

I'm bleeding in the middle of my periods. I had a period that lasted around six day stopped and then around day sixteen of my cycle started to bleed again which has gotten worse. It's now been six days and I need to use a pad the blood has gotten heavier. I had a baby six months ago and I'm not using any birth control
I'm not pregnant for defo, and I have no pain, unusual discharge. I'm so worried its cervical cancer that I can't eat sleep, I feel dizzy with nerves and I'm checking my blood loss in the toilet around every ten mins
I feel like I'm going to pass out with nerves. I was looked at by a Dr OK n march who found nothing unusual but she said she couldn't get a proper look bcz I was so nervous. All awabs came back fine. I'm having a smear next month bcz I'm twenty five then. Help me, I can't do anything but look for answers. My partner is downstairs now sorting our kids out for school bcz I can't help bcz I'm shaking too much and crying. I'm a normal twenty five year old girl, with good job, mortgage and friends but I'm worried I'm going to die bcz this is cervical cancer and I'm going to loose it all

Cervical cancer is a very rare disease, particular in women as young as you. There are many reasons for irregular bleeding, most of them nothing to worry about. However, it's easy for our minds to become overwhelmed with worry so you need to be helped by your doctor.

If you can't get an emergency appointment within the next couple of days, ask for a telephone consultation with your GP. Let her be in no doubt of the extent of the anxiety you are suffering from because of fear caused by the bleeding.

It would be really helpful if she could prescribe something like Valium (diazepam) to help calm your mind and this would also help you relax when being examined.

If you don't feel your GP is helping you, I believe you can contact your local GUM clinic direct. They are Genito-urinary doctors and nurses and do these investigations all the time so might be better for you than your GP.

Also, have you spoken to your Health Visitor about this?

Thanks for replying. I haven't spoken to my health visitor bcz I want to come across as someone who can cope. I cope with my kids when iv not got any physical symptoms of illness (I just severely worry inside about 'what ifs') and I enjoy my life. However as soon as something his wrong I buckle and I can't cope with the torturing thoughts. I feel sick n dizzy n I just have to sleep. Iv been to my drs about the bleeding and she has booked me in for blood tests today with the nurse
The way I am feeling right now I know I'm going to burst out crying and embarrass myself but I don't know what to do. I appreciate anyone replying to me bcz it calms me down. I really am a normal girl with a very supportive partner and mum and dad. I'm so scared of this bleeding bcz everything I read points to cervical cancer (bleeding in between periods). My family have told me to keep off Google and I see the worry in their faces about me. I worry that they think deep down I'm seriously ill or that they are worried about my worry. My four year old caught me crying before and that's hurting me aswell

Jo - your health visitor is there to help you cope, not to judge you. Mine was very supportive when I was suffering from anxiety when my DD was younger. Also, your HV is a nurse and should be able to discuss possible reasons for the bleeding especially as you gave birth only six months ago. It could be hormonal, a birth related injury, cervical erosion (not a serious problem), polyps (not cancer). Many times there is no reason found for irregular bleeding because there is nothing wrong at all.

Please ask your GP for some tranquillisers. They only need to be short term but will give your mind a rest. I do understand what you are going through and it's awful. You need to be helped and cared for.

I might get my partner to phone. Iv got a blood test at twenty to eleven. I'll speak to the nurse. The bleeding is heavier then six days ago. Thank you for ur help. You sound like you genuinely care. I can't believe I'm in this state, and this bleeding is happening to me

What investigations are you having for the bleeding?
It sounds as if it could be hormonal.
Your GP should examine you, organise a scan and blood tests.
Are you taking iron supplements to help you compensate for the extra blood loss? Your GP can prescribe this for you.
Please go back and see your GP - you can probably have a smear test early if it would put your mind at rest.

Write down what you have said in your posts and read aloud to nurse, GP, HV.

I can't eat sleep, I feel dizzy with nerves and I'm checking my blood loss in the toilet around every ten mins

I feel like I'm going to pass out with nerves

I can't cope with the torturing thoughts

This is the thought process of someone who is suffering from severe anxiety and your GP will recognise this - trust me it will be nothing she hasn't heard before.

And I have no doubt that you are a normal young woman who can cope but you are frightened and your own mind is battering you relentlessly. You've probably guessed that I've experienced this too so please trust me when I say you can be helped.

I bled constantly after the birth of DS2 - doctors eventually found a harmless fibroid following an ultrasound, so seeing as all your swabs have come back clear, ask for your GP to refer you for one. It'll definitely set your mind at rest!

You should always talk to gp about irregular bleeding. I didn't realize this but luckily they picked it up another way and due for a procedure this week. It could be hormonal (quite likely soon after a baby I would think) or it could be early signs of something not being quite right. Talk to gp.

Hi everyone
Thank you all for your kind words. I had a telephone app with Dr this morning and I was that upset that I had to pass phone over to my mum. (Lucky she is v supportive n Simone who I can talk to). Dr invited me in on Friday for swabs and an internal examination but didn't say he thought it was anything serious, just said he didn't know.iv had my blood done also so I will just have to see. The Dr asked me what I want to do for my anxiety but I didn't know what to say because iv had counciling four years ago n that didn't help abit. Thanks again for all your kind words xxx

Please have a go again at dealing with your anxiety. I suggest going to the gp specifically about anxiety. It will be probably easier when you aren't worrying about a physical symptom so your mind is clearer. It's very easy to swing from dealing with one illness or test and becoming anxious to the next and becoming anxious again, sorting the physical and never sorting the mental. Which becomes exhausting, time consuming and stress levels can go on to affect you physically.

There are so many tests, symptoms and illnesses that can occur as we age that you don't want crippling anxiety piggy back riding on all of them as time goes by.

Lots of luck to you.

I can't believe how sympathetic people on this site have been. I only found it by googling symptoms this morning. If there is absolutely anything I can help anyone else with I would be more then happy to return the favour. I might be very anxious but they do say worry comes with intelligence. As you can tell I have calmed down abit (probs due to the massive chats with GPS, nurses, my mum, partner and the lovely people on this site) I have eaten abit n had a drink. I am calm now but I could easily have a panic attack later which I am going to avoid because its always on my mind.Like I said everyone, if anyone ever needs anybody to talk to I'm here, like I said, I'm a normal girl, with a normal family with quite abit of common sense when I'm thinking straight Smile
