Has anyone got pregnant after DHs snip?

2ndtime · 15/11/2006 14:11

DH had a vasectomy in August and we've been using condoms since until we get the all clear.

To cut a long story short, my period is now 2 weeks late. My boobs are very sore and veiney, but I did a pregnancy test 2 days ago and it was negative.

I know the chances of being pregnant are slim but until I have a period I'm convinced I must be.

I haven't yet but as DP's snip hasn't officially been given the all clear 18 months in it's quite possible I think

yes definitely if you haven't had the all clear you could get pregnant. take care!

OMG! 18 months!! He must have super sperms! Are they going to operate again? Surely if the little swimmers are still getting through they didn't do the job right in the first place.

The other thing I forgot to mention is the tiredness. I fell asleep after tea last night and just now dropped off in the car whilst waiting outside school to pick up DD.

I know I'm probably drawing the wrong conclusion, but I can't stop thinking that I must be!

What is the most accurate pregnancy test to buy? I think I will do another if no AF by Friday.

I think you should do another test.

Dp is quite proud of his high sperm count, he thinks it indicates his superstud status

dunno, really to be sure he should do it again, or we could hope for the best....

Hmmmm, does sound like pg symptoms but then tiredness just comes with motherhood I think! Try first response, they are v. sensitive. Let us know if your husband is, in fact, the sperminator.

Will let you know. I'll get a first response and try again on Friday, if I can wait that long!

FRIDAY? WE can't wait that long!

Did you cave already and test?

Are you excited or scared?

Your symtoms are probably hormonal from being overdue on, not pregnant. I went thro this as well.. could not believe the snip had worked.. didn't realy trust it.. and then thought I was pregnant enough to feel a baby moving inside me! (You know those weird kicking movements when you're NOT pregnant.. there have been threads about them..) I'd had a depo provera jab as well so wasn't coming on anyway.. but that was due to have 'worn off' a 4 months before... (periods can take a long time to return after that.. )

Drove to 24 Asda at 11pm one night and bought a cheapy test, the one with 2 pinks dots. Didn't read the instructions properly and when TWO pink dots came up I nearly DIED!!! Then I realised that with these tests, two pinks dots DO come up and if you are not pg, one fades away. And it did thank f*!

I doubt you are pg 2ndtime, but I reckon this is not what you want to hear somehow!

Have you been present at actually op???

Super sperm doesn't come in to it, they'd have to be magic sperm unless surgeon is shit!

Crisis over everyone!! Aunty Flo arrived this pm, I think she brought most of her extended family with her!

Big Phew.

Actually Babalon, I have seen the op many times. My job as a student nurse was to hold the victims hand and try to make small talk with them!Easier said than done when the surgeon is carving their nuts up!!
Live sperm can make their way out for up to 20 ejaculations in normal cases or in abnormal cases 18 months as in Fennels case!!

Thanks for your concern/advice etc. Think I'd better ring Bobobobs (my DS) to tell her the good news before she reads it on here first!!

I had actually reached the point of trying to convince myself of the bonuses of having 4 children!
Like, even numbers, a 7 seater Discovery,a boy after 3 girls??? Yeah I know, clutching at straws!
Thank God I'm not though.

3 girls and no more is just perfect, IMO

I know what you mean, even if you know you have enough children there can be a little bit of you which wouldn't mind another. even if it's not what you really want.

If I'm totally honest Fennel there's a big part of me that would love another baby. I still get the biggest hormonal surges of broodiness.

When DH went for the snip there was a woman breast feeding her tiny DD in the waiting room and I so very nearly told him not to go in.
The thought of never BFing again is so sad. I adored that snuffly, warm contentment.

But, on the logical side,
DH is almost 50, (I'm nearer 30!, would hate you to picture me as an old biddy!)

I have 3, beautiful, healthy DDs.

Money is always an "object", as opposed to, "no object."

My DDs are becoming independent and do I really want to go back to sleepless nights etc??

I could go on...... I know the rational reasons, but babies...... I just love 'em.

It goes away 2ndtime. I was broody on and off for about 2-3 years after DH's snip but no more. I still love babies.. but want one?? Not bloody likely...!

I'm sooooo broody now, 3 years after snip. Don't suppose it could still happen now could it???
