i feel bloody awful. Every time I move I get dizzy and lightheaded, I'm aching all over. My skin feels sore to touch. I'm shivering cold, and my eyesight isn't right. Just had to get a lift home because I couldn't drive. Paracetamol hasn't done anything, any ideas?

Sounds like flu to me

Report
ChestyNut · 04/05/2015 18:32

I'd say flu too.

Rest, fluids and painkillers.

Well, if it were me I'd consider having an enormous cup of tea and going to bed with a hot water bottle. But what if you have meningitis or something? Only you can judge this one.

Thanks. I suspected flu but thought I'd have some cold like symptoms with that.

What do u mean by eyesight not right? I have never had my eyesight affected with flu...

Report
DextersMistress · 04/05/2015 18:45

Well it seems it's impossible to explain! Been trying to word it for ages. Ok, it's like my eyes are stuttering. If I look from left to right it's not fluid, my eyes are juttery Confused

Virus, ear Infection, migraine? Call gp tomorrow.

Report
larrygrylls · 04/05/2015 19:03

Why do I say A&E. Well you have some sort of infection and what you are saying about your eye could be some sort of neurological involvement. Could be flu, could be migraine but, were it me, I would want to be seen.

Do you have a temperature?

Report
DextersMistress · 04/05/2015 19:16

No temperature. I actually feel ok unless I move. Headache now too.

Migraine?

And just thought as I pressed 'post' - pretty irresponsible to guess. Why don't you phone 101 (?) and talk through your symptoms with them. Smile

Report
DextersMistress · 04/05/2015 19:21

No, it's not a migraine. Thanks everyone I'll have a bath and see if it eases anything then call 101 if not.

Don't go to A&E. If you don't need to be there you will spend a pretty miserable few hours sitting there waiting to be seen. Probably nothing, but phone 101. They always err on the side of caution anyway.

Sounds like a cold with dehydration. If you are cold don't take paracetamol it is a (forget the word) it brings you temperature down.

Get proper advice from a medical professional

Report
TheMagnificientFour · 04/05/2015 19:26

I wouldn't go to A&E either. Maybe the OOH but not A&E.

I don't think it's flu if you have no temperature.
The dizziness and the weird vision can be migraine. You can have a migraine wo pain but just visual symptoms. It doesn't explain the achyness though. Or feeling cold.

See how you feel but I would wait until tomorrow and see how it goes. If it hasn't cleared up, then I would go and see the GP (Note this is what I would do for myself but then I hardly go to see the GP either so....)

DextersMistress · 04/05/2015 19:27

The reason I'm a bit reluctant to call is because I've just had a look on the nhs symptoms checker. The vision problems flagged as a stroke and the neck pain heart problems. I don't want 101 to do the same and send me an ambulance if it's a virus.

Wouldn't you want them to tell you to get checked out at A&E in case it is one of those things?

It seems to be more than a cold and you are worried, hence why you're posting on here. Take it out of your hands and let 111 decide, they are sometimes sensible with advice and don't always suggest hospital, although I know they do often do that to cover their back.

Report
PurpleDaisies · 04/05/2015 19:38

If you are well enough to be thinking going to a and e is a pain in the arse then 101 won't be sending you there in an ambulance!

Op you need to speak to a proper medical professional who can give you advice. Either the out of hours service from your gp or ring 101. All your symptoms could be explained by a viral infection but none of us can properly assess you over the Internet.

Report
DextersMistress · 04/05/2015 19:55

Yes, you're right. I suppose if I thought it was a simple virus I wouldn't be posting. I'll give them a call. Thanks again.
