Has anyone else had this. I have never been a big eater but I never get hungry these day. I make myself eat but get full after a few mouthfuls.

Today I dipped to just under 7 stones. Should i see my GP. Apart from feeling incredibly tired, I don't have any other symptoms.

Oddly this happened to me when I first became hypothyroid aged 20, I loose my appetite and loose weight.

Are you at all constipated?

It's unlikely to be this but could be a number of things such as I think low iron can cause low appetite? Worth speaking to gp but they may ask if you're stressed or depressed. If you're not id try to emphasise this.

I think b12 too - it's hard though as with anaemia of either sort, and thyroid there are associated mood changes too. So I'd emphasise the loss of appetite, v tired and weight loss.

Absolutely fine. I told him my symptoms - feel cold a lot. Wiped out - exhausted. Had a phase where over eating then put weight on. Now not eating much at all two Weetabix and half a sandwich today! I also said I seemed to be bruising a lot. He said he'd get blood tests done for thyroid, ferritin, full blood count, the whole shebang. Said he wanted them doing asap so booked in for tomorrow.
He did ask me if anything "going on" think he was looking also at depression route But I don't think its that
He said I can then book a telephone apt to discuss results but on reflection think I'd rather go in and have face to face apt to discuss cant really do a phone apt from work.

Hope your results help Enlightened, I'd just write a list of symptoms Florentina and describe it all. It's appetite etc they do ask about mental health. Have you any children? Pregnancy can trigger some things like thyroid and anaemia.

Well just about every blood test you can think of has been ordered or so it seems ...
Anyway got back in with doc in a week. Offered a phone apt but they can't commit to a time as such for this and I can't guarantee where I'll be in a day so easier for me to go in.
if nothing shows up I'll be more worried than if it does if you see what I mean.
Not done too bad for food today managed a Weetabix, a bowl of rice krispies and a croissant so far...fell asleep on bus both ways to work though so not all great!

I went to Docs today he was very understanding. Going for blood tests tomorrow, long list, but no idea what they mean. He did mention, diabetes, liver function, vit D, and Thyroid.

Glad I went so thank you both again.

Yes I had those mentioned to me. In a way hope they find something as otherwise well I don't quite know what is going on!

Ah good :)

Hope all is explained and gp is helpful. Keep returning and asking for help if nothing shows up and symptoms don't improve. Sounds a very comprehensive list though :)

I had my blood tests on Friday. My weight is now down to 6st 10lb. Today i got a letter from GP practice saying my Cholestorol is 6.6 and it contained a diet sheet and tips on losing weight. I am a vegetarian so don't eat most of the banned foods anyway.

Should I wait, do you think to see if any other results come through. My cholesterol has always come back high and in the past the GP has never seen it as a problem.

Ok, diet advice for someone loosing weight?!

I'd wait for all results - high cholesterol can be linked to underactive thyroid. I do think you should book a repeat appt now anyway as you're loosing weight rapidly, even if tests are clear.

thank you bit of a surprise. Iron is low so supplementing. Thyroid well within reference range. The culprit is glucose levels have shot up - just below the threshold for diagnosis of diabetes -eeek. Have to retest in about six weeks but obviously sooner if any worsening of symptoms. Scary would prefer thyroid on the whole I think Shock
