Hi ladies
I'm just wondering whether any of you have experience of this condition. I've been told by my gp I have this. My main symptom is that I constantly feel like I need to pee although I don't really as I can go 4-6 hours without actually peeing & I don't wake during night to pee. Since being told of this condition I'm thinking I might have some of the other symptoms like slight pain between legs and some itching but to be honest I think I've always had that from time to time & it never bothered me but now my thoughts are running away with me! Does anyone have this condition & have the irritating symptom of feeling like you need to pee all the time. I have it two months now & no UTI or thrush.thanks in advance. It's my first post Blush

I have vulvodynia, but more of a constant burning pain at the entrance to the vagina. I imagine it can affect different parts of that area though. I admit I don't know very much about it, noones ever been able to tell me much apart from my GP saying it might be something to do with the nerves.

I know they have some treatments though that might work.. You get painkillers and meds that are good for nerve pain (amitrypitiline, or pregablin). Some people also advocate Botox injections and I think in really extreme situations you can get surgical intervention as well.

Google the vulval pain society, they are quite good - they do a booklet that you can buy. Also worth searching on Facebook as there's few a groups of ladies suffering - mostly American women but still good to talk :)

Thanks so much for your reply. I've started amitriptyline - almost 4 weeks- and I'm seeing no benefit. Maybe it's too soon? As I don't really have pain I'm
Not even sure how the drug can help my peeing sensation. My mind keeps going into overdrive & thinking there's something really wrong & getting very anxious. My symptom didn't seem to be listed anywhere yet my gp is sure this is what I have. Feeling quite lost with it allBlush

Are you sure that is what it is? How old are you? If you are perimenopausal it could be vagina atropy. Your symptoms sound exactly like mine Topical oestrogen such as Gynest Cream is fab plus HRT. Symptoms vanished in 4/5 days.

Hi Fairbalance, thanks for your reply. I've booked to see a private gynaecologist next week. I don't know what the atrophy thing is but I don't think it's that as I don't have any problem down there that I can tell. sex etc is fine. I really just feel like a constant- sometimes fairly mild, sometimes tormenting, urge to pee all day. I'm taking 40mg amitriptyline and today it hasn't been as intense so I'm hoping it's kicked in and if that''s the case maybe it is vulvodynia. I'm off to google atrophy now- I know I shouldn't- but I'd like to read what exactly it is. Do you mind me asking again was feeling like a pee but didn't really need to one of your symptoms and/or your only symptom?? thanks again

Sorry I should say I'm 41 but recently had lots of bloods done and all my hormones came back fine as GP was checking for signs of menopause just in case. I'm not sure if perimenopausal goes by age or hormone levels so by age maybe I am.
