Started getting a really soar throat last night, I keep clearing my throat and my neck hurts, my larynx is swollen. I also have awful lower back and tummy pain and feel totally washed out, tem keeps going up and down. Is this laryngitis? What's the best treatment? I'm meant to be visiting family today and at the moment I can barely move or swollow.

I had that some years ago which began with an agonising sore throat much worse than at the beginning of a cold. I also had a raised temperature and felt really ill .
I phoned GP and I was deivered antibiotics as too ill to go to surgery. They worked.
Also got it over Xmas, but nobody else didConfused.
GP did say there was a lot of it going around so assumed it was that.
I did stay in bed for at least 3 days and just slept.

Good luck with a swift recovery.

It's doing the rounds here. I had it from Friday 19th to 25th December. My voice was nine existent for first 3 days and i was exhausted. My voice came back slowly but still goes if I try to shout

Pain killers seem to help for a short while, managed to go out today but after a few hours the pain killers wore of and I was unable to swallow or talk without being in pain. I'm now home trying to get warm, managed to get some throat sweets and Vic from the chemist, hopefully I will feel a bit better tomorrow.

I had this recently, voice completely gone and sore throat, along with some other symptoms, cough and painful chest and red slightly swollen up skin on chest and upper body. I felt absolutely awful. Dr gave me antibiotics and it took a while to recover. My voice is still quite hoarse.
