Does anybody know anything about vestibular migraine?

I've been feeling unwell for a long time, with frequent episodes of dizziness, fainting fits, weakness etc. I was told I was anaemic but have been on iron tablets for months and months and haven't got any better. Sometimes I'm fine and at other times I feel indescribably awful, with no clear patterns that I can see. Anyway, I came across something on vestibular migraine today and it struck a chord.

Does anybody suffer from it/know anything about it, please?

I suffer with chronic migraine (mainly Hemiplegic) and it took a long while to diagnose. I think you need to see your GP and then a good neurologist to get any really accurate diagnosis - only then can they suggest the right lifestyle/medication changes to help you feel better.

Sorry that doesn't help very much, but for more help you can visit www.migraine.org.uk and they will be far more helpful

I hope you feel better soon

Thanks, Life. Unfortunately my GP has been pretty useless thus far, so I'm trying to think about patterns etc before I next see him.

I understand I went through months of GP visits, specialists and hospital admissions before I got a good diagnosis - but push on. Keep a diary of symptoms and how the pain etc. effects your life and then show it to them. To be honest I think GP's are not great at diagnosing less common things My Gp had to google it when the consultant diagnosed it - so when you see them again push for a referral.

In the meantime cut out all the known trigger foods including alcohol and trigger lifestyle factors (always get up at the same time, eat regularly, keep your sugar levels consistent etc.) and see if it helps. Also you might want to get a Migracap which is a frozen cap that you wear which for me helps massively with the pain and symptoms.

Most of all take care of yourself, Chronic migraines can be truly damaging to you and everyone around you - so if you can put yourself first tip you get it sorted.

Take care

Thank you. I will definitely try cutting out at least some of the triggers.

Ironically, I feel positively bursting with health today! :)
