Suspected UTI - anything I can do?

I am pretty sure that I have a UTI. It's not budging. I have booked an appt with the GP but the next one is not until 26th Nov. Is there anything else I can do to help in the mean time? Don't really get these so I am rather clueless.

Thanks if you can help!

Drink lots and lots and lots of water.
Also cranberry juice.
Also, there is a sachet of a cranberry flavoured thing you can get from the chemist/over the counter (the doctor told me to get it) that apparently is vg. I think it's called Cytosporin/Cystospurin.
Wipe from front to back (TMI!)
Don't get any soap of any sort on your nethers - fragrances can cause UTIs. When washing your hair in the shower, rinse it to one side so the shampoo/conditioner doesn't run down your body to your foof.
(those last 2 are more prevention than cure)

Thank you littlewoollypervert (something that I never thought that I would write). Will do all of the above, much appreciated :) Will head to the chemist after school I think.

Cheers :)

If you truly have a UTI -then you won't want to wait 3 weeks for a gp appointment!

Drink lots and lots of water. This alone can be enough to flush it out. Be wary of cranberry. That is better as a preventative - it's quite acidic, so it you have the stinging already then it will make it worse.

Just lots and lots of water.

If no improvement in a day or two - or you start to feel unwell in yourself (hot, dizzy etc) then get an emergency appointment as you will most likely need antibiotics to get shut of it.

Good luck - UTIs are vile.

Some bicarbonate of soda dissolved in water can help to neutralise the acidity. I've managed to kick a uti with this method if I get to it early enough. Aldo, just drink pints and pints of water.

Most cranberry juice is sweetened and the sugar can name things worse so be aware of that.

Just take a sample into the drs and ask them to get a nurse to dip it. You can go back later for the prescription. I'm sure if you told the receptionist the problem they wouldn't expect you to wait three weeks for an appt.

Agree with spotty, that's what we do.

Thanks to all. I have sent in a sample. Such a sensible suggestion, it would never have occurred to me!

Will keep up the the water etc though.

Cheers for the help :)
