Anyone had (a lot of) the symptoms of lymphoma, but NOT had it??

Feeling hopeful-
Found a neck swelling about 5 months ago. Also drenching night sweats and some weight loss. Was 5 months post partum then so had weight to lose (!) and sweats could be hormonal?
Anyway, had ultrasound which showed enlarged lymph node. Sonographer was quite cheerful and made out that it's nothing to worry about, so I haven't!
Today I had a repeat scan, multiple nodes seen also the ones in my face (forgotton feat they're called).
Still losing weight (bmi is 18) but good appetite. Still bf DS too. Still have night sweats and the odd unexplained itchy rash on my chest, plus tiredness... I do have a non-sleeping-through baby though! Smile

Am I deluded to think that these symptoms are just coincidental? Hmm

DH's very similar symptoms turned out to be sarcoidosis (nothing like waiting for three weeks for results mind you when sent home with the phrase "there's a shadow on your lungs we'd like to investigate..."). He also, however, had very painful, almost arthritic-type joint swelling along with serious emotional swings when going through an 'episode'.

That said, please get everything properly checked, a.s.a.p. Will keep fingers' crossed for you that it is nothing too serious.

Could be an over active thyroid

Please see your GP.

My DH was also diagnosed with sarcoidosis 2 years ago, after being told he almost certainly had lymphoma.

Dh had lung symptoms though, as well as night sweats, extreme fatigue, joint pains etc, and a biopsy (eventually) confirmed sarcoidosis.

My DP was also diagnosed with sarcoidosis this summer after initially being thought to have lymphoma. He lost 10kg in a few weeks, had an itchy rash and hair loss on his calves, severe fatigue, aching joints and most alarmingly suddenly lost sight in one eye.

He was also diagnosed after a biopsy.

Apologies to Mistletoe for hijacking the thread there! Blush

I have been prone to swollen glands ever since childhood, whenever my immune system has been under severe stress due to exhaustion or viral illness. I've had swollen neck glands investigated lots of times, particularly after a v nasty bout of a glandular-fever-type illness in my late 20s, which left me with post-viral fatigue syndrome, and I was unable to work full time for a year. Nothing sinister has ever been discovered.

Last time I suffered with this, about 8 years ago, my lovely ENT consultant worked out I was so exhausted (badly snoring DH, crap bed in tiny noisy flat in N. London over late-night off-licence) - I had become a chronic teeth grinder Shock.

If you are suffering from severely disrupted sleep with a bf baby (have 18 year old T shirt!) then it just might be worth investigating whether you are mashing your gnashers at night, during your tiny sleep windows. It can cause chronic jaw inflammation and make your poor glands swell up.

HTH x

Thanks Lapsed, and the same to you - not fun, is it, particularly when beyond their control too. Sad The only things, other than steroids, we've found helps with managing it (and not sure why, as should only really help with joint swelling) is a product called Jointace that seems to have the right chondroitin balance for him.

Mistletoe - do update once you've seen the doctor, and do insist on proper investigations until they can confirm why you're going through this.

Oh CheeseAlarm, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. My DH suffered the same symptoms, including loss of eyesight, and is currently taking Methotrexate for his skin rash. Please feel free to PM me if you need an understanding ear. Smile MY DH feels terribly isolated because it's such a rare and unpredictable illness.

Poor DH has gained so much weight (4 stone) with steroids that his doctors will no longer prescribe them. His current meds are used for chemo and have awful side effects too Sad.

Glad they are getting things checked so quickly - hope it does all turn out to be hormonal.

Also have lump in neck. Assumed was gland. Had since October. Tooth grinding constantly like pp. Exhaustion. Jaw Pain. Need a root canal. Lump unrelated to root canal. No idea about tiredness or jaw pain. Whether that's related to root canal or neck lump. All a jumble. Not sure what's related and what's not. Had ultrasound on lump. Told it was benign cyst or developmental lesion. Consultant then phoned and said actually, I need another ultrasound and FNA. Ultrasound actually posed more questions than answers. Lump is either benign cyst or possibly developmental and related to thyroid and could be filled with thyroid fluid. So waiting on FNA to find out. Have been told they also found a thyroid nodule when they did the ultrasound so that now needs investigating too. I'm mid twenties and this all seemed to start when I was about a year post partum. But I'm quite scared actually. Especially with the finding of the nodule. Sending well wishes to everyone.
