Gallstones, the gift that keeps on giving

I had my gallbladder out in May and, ever since, I haven't felt 'well'. I feel queasy most of the time and still get a dull ache where my gallbladder was (nothing like the pain from gallstones thankfully).

I saw the doctor today and I've been referred for an endoscopy to find out why I feel sick all the time. Thankfully it's not urgent as I won't be able to have it done until November as I've got holiday and courses coming up at work. Has anyone got any positive endoscopy stories to share with me?

One other question, I'm taking Lansoperazole - has anyone found it causes nausea? I've seen that it's one of the side effects but everyone I know who is on it has no problems. When my GP prescribed it she told me to come off it after a while, which I did, but I had indigestion. That was a while ago though so I'm wondering whether to try coming off it again to see if things are settling.

I was also told that the 'phantom gallbladder' is most likely scar tissue and will probably never go away.

I know I needed to have my gallbladder out (I had pancreatitis and an inflamed gallbladder) but I didn't expect any of this Sad

Sorry for the long rambling post.

Aww bless you. I had my gallbladder out in
May too. Since then i've had 1 attack that felt exactly the same as a gallbladder one which made me wonder if they did actually
take the damn thing out Confused. Told my consultant about it at the follow up and
he wanted me to have liver tests done. Have your GP asked for you to get the tests done? Seemed to be the first and only explanation he thought it could be.

Sorry to hear you're suffering as well. They make it sound so easy don't they?

The only tests my GP has suggested is the endoscopy. I was ok apart from the scar tissue pain when I saw the consultant.

I've decided the first thing I'm going to do is come off the lansoprazole as after reading the side effects I've realised I've got a few of them - nausea, tiredness, stomach ache and constipation (sorry for TMI!).

I hope you feel better soon x

I know you can have his if you have a stone or sludge in the duct , wich they don't take out.

Can someone tell me what gallstones feel like
I have one lurking in my gall bladder right now, waiting to have it's matching orders.
If I'm very very careful with my diet (I'm a vegetarian but I had to stop eating crisps and cheese) any fat, even chips in sunflowwer oil or a roast potato, will make it react,
At it;s worst, it's like someone pushing a sharp stick through my abdomen to my back. Repeatedly. Spasms like labour pains.
In it's quiet period, very bloaty, turgid. Worse at night or sitting.

The ulcerative colitis on the left takes hold just to cheer me up

Sorry, I've only just seen this. I don't know about labour pains (I don't have children) but 70 describes the pain so well. I didn't know what to do with myself when the pain hit. I can remember telling DH I was dying and I hoped it was quick! The poor bloke knew I was really bad when I asked him to take me to A & E!

I had 42 gallstones, most of them more like gravel but one large on and one huge one!

Sorry you're feeling so bad 70, I hope you get sorted soon.

Yesterday was my first day of not taking the lansoperazole and I had a pretty good day. A little bit burpy but only queasy when I had a lovely sandwich on fresh bread. I even went to the gym to book a new programme to get me back into exercise! Today I don't feel quite so good but still so much better than when I was on it. From what I've read I need to give it time to get out of my system so I won't give up yet!
