Sorry for a long thread, have been having bad diarrhoea and stomach pains for months, went to gp because not only was I getting really bad gripes I have been having really bad stinging pains above pubic bone and into stomach, I am bloated, but to be honest am overweight anyway. Gp tested bowel etc and pressed stomach which was agony and feels like something is moving about but said she could not feel a mass but I do have a big tummy so was probably hard to feel was sent for blood tests, which I had yesterday, today several calls from surgery and gp I have been told I have low haemaglobin levels, which she said meant I was bleeding internally wtf, and would now be sent for an emergency scan which is a 2 week wait, I have also been sent to have more tests to check iron levels etc. Has anyone else had this, is it always cancer, if it was iron levels I would not be in pain. I am dizzy and tired but have been moaning about this to gp for a year but as I did not have excessive pain then they did nothing, we all panic and I am panicking like crazy as I have a 15 year old ds who I want to see grow up. Does the problem with haemoglobin mean it has gone beyond help and if it is stomach, bowel or ovaries are they always terminal, any words of advice accepted

It could just as easily be an ulcer or wear and tear somewhere. My sister had similar and she's fine!

Thanks lets hope it is an ulcer as I have acid reflux and have had for years

low haemoglobin levels don;t necessarily mean you're bleeding.

Its possible but it wasn't the reason for my haemolobin levels

Oh poor you. What a worry. I don't really have much useful to add but try not to fear the worst as there are many explanations. Hope it turns out ok.

Oh no, my mum had almost identical symptoms to you. She had a camera put down her throat which showed hiatus hernia and she was given iron tablets and she is ok?! It was really weird, she was really poorly and then the iron tablets sorted out her low levels and the levels have stayed up. Not sure how helpful this is but it is an example of something not life threatening or limiting. Hope you are ok

Well....with years of acid reflux it could very well be an ulcer. Especially with the pain and dirrhea. That would figure. OP don't google....don't. You'll go nuts if you do because there are SO many sites which link one symptom to a million others and before you know it, your sore toe has turned into gangrene.

I know it's hard but you have to NOT think about the next two weeks draggin by. If the GP thought there was a real worry, she'd have you in that hospital tomorrow...or today. My Aunt had some really vague symptoms and went to the DR. Within a day or two she was in hospital. She is completely recovered now by the way but they don't mess about....

Thanks for replies, I know what you mean about googling, it drives you mad thinking all sorts of things, I think the reason for internal bleeding was that I pass a bit of blood with diarrhoea and at 55 have stopped periods. I am just going to see what happens at scan and work from there. I feel well apart from stomach and a bit dizzy so keep thinking I can't be that bad.
