Gone over on my ankle - A&E or not?

I missed the last step coming down the stairs at my Mum's and went down very badly.
I heard a crunch and fell to the floor and it made me cry.
It knocked me sick and dizzy for about ten minutes.

I can put some weight on to hobble to the toilet. It is hurting though when rested.
But is not particularly swollen. My ankle bone hurts though on and off and when I flex my foot.

Do you reckon it's just a sprain?

Go . I did exactly the same , ignored it for a couple of weeks (busy over Christmas so just rammed it into a boot as not too swollen and could manage to drive ) until eventually it seized up. I had a high ankle sprain which took a couple of months of physio to resolve. Suspect I may well have fractured it too but having left it so long the gp wouldn't refer me for xrays.

Thanks. I've done it before loads and this time it was something else. Not on the same scale of pain.

I'd take pain killers/wrap in frozen peas and wait until tomorrow and see your GP if it wasn't better

Having just busted my ankle too this weekend - go to a&e. Even if it's not broken (mine isn't, just chipped the bone), they can give you stronger painkillers and a splint if necessary. Just worth checking out.

My friend broke her foot missing the last step, so please do get it checked.

I took the majority advice and went this morning. luckily it's just a sprain. But I didn't want to risk it. Thanks all.
