Worried mum

My DD1 who is six is incresingly losing her appetite. She has always been a bit picky but she seems worse than ever, to the extent that she is not even interested in treats such as happy meals, sweets etc. I decided to weigh her today and was quite shocked that she is only 4 stone 5. Her height is 127cm (ahe is tall for her age) I then weighed DD2 who is nearly 4 and she weight 4'3, only 2 pounds less than her sister (height 104cm). Is there anyone who can give me advice as to what is normal/ not normal as i'm so worried. She did have a heart murmer when she was born which I was told had gone after about 8 months. However when she had a cough a year ago it was heard again. The gp said it didn't matter as she looked well. Am I being paranoid? She has also started waking in the night saying she is lonely. I am unsure if what is going on in psychological or there realy is something wrong with her. Can you wise people tell me whether I should go back to GP? Or maybe the HV? If I go to the docs, normally end up feeling like i'm fussing over nothing, not that I take them very often.

Im not sure what to suggest. But i didn't want you to think you were being ignored.

If your really that worried then speak to your g.p your not being paranoid your being a good mum who's concerned about her child.

Is she ok at school, have you spoken to her teacher to see if her behaviours normal there?

Her weight doesnt seem drastically low and children do go through phases with food as I am sure you know. However, I would always say if you feel that something is not right then take her to see GP.

Do you take her to the clinic to get weighed or do it at home, I would see your gp as you are obviously really concerned about it, it might be nothing to worry about but at least you will have put your mind at rest. Hope she's ok

ds is less than that I think, similar height and he's 8 ! If you are concerned ask to have her referred to a paediatrician to rule out any murmur or underlying problem.

Thankyou for your replies. I have weighed her at home which I know is a bit unreliable. I hope I am just being over anxious. I think it worried me that her sister who is so much younger and smaller is only a couple of pounds diferent. Maybe I will weigh her over a few weeks and make sure she is not losing any more. As you say, maybe she is having a growth spurt. I haven't weighed her myself for years so nothing to compare her to.

Thankyou for your comparisons. Maybe I should post 'My DD2 is overweight' next instead?
