Period between periods??

Has happened maybe 3 times in the last 12 months just had my 3rd period in 4-5 wks the inbetween bleed was about 4 days long and was like a normal period with a few clots the first and 3rd period came when due. Should I be worried? just been to the doctor today due to tiredness, dizzy spells and palps but forgot to mention the extra period, had blood tests done for thyroid and anaemia. I'm 45 so could it be age related? although it did happen a few times when I was about 36..has anyone else experienced this?

I'm nearly 47 and go through phases (a few months) of having periods every 14-19 days and then they go back to normal. This has happened twice in the last two years and I seem to be going back into the short cycle again.

If you're feeling tired, having dizzy spells or palpitations, they could be caused by low iron levels if you're having more periods. Might be worth mentioning to the doctor. If you're not going back for a while you could try increasing iron in your diet, or taking iron tablets every other day to give your iron levels a boost and see if that helps.

The period between periods combined with your age sounds like the peri-menopause. That's how my peri-menopause started. I was under the impression that the menopause meant fewer periods not more, but sadly that's not necessarily so.

Thanks for replies..was thinking the dreaded m word might be creeping in omg not ready for that just yet..damn getting older! Vegetarian also so with the bleeding was thinking thats what could be making me tired and dizzy..nothing to worry about as such then as its not spotting just an extra period? thanks girls :)

Ive had this&turned out to be a polyp which im now waiting to have removed
Could also be fibroids ir the m word
Worth checkibg further if the tests come up with noyhing

Thanks babyjane! never even thought of a polyp or fibroids..will see what the blood test reveals
