Continued weight loss. Scared....

I am very skinny. Ever since the birth of my kids my metabolism seems to have gone I to overdrive and I can't keep weight on. My BMI is in the underweight bit of the chart.

Went to the GP about 18 m ago and bloods all OK except anaemia which we sorted with iron tablets. Weight went back up gradually as feeling better overall and gained about half a stone.

However over last 6 m weight dropping again and feels like its a quick loss. Am at GP tomorrow and am scared tbh. I feel okish. Bit tired and cold sensitive which makes me think iron down again. A few off and on toilet issues. Some diorreha occasionally but nothing major.

I am starting to really think there is something wrong with me. My appetite isn't huge but I eat as much as most people on average I think. Don't eat meat which may be an issue I guess. My clothes hang off me. I look bad.

Thyroid tested last time and OK. I suppose doc will send for more blood tests but what else? I have no lumps or bumps as far as I can tell. Got breast screening last year and fine. No blood in urine or poo. No pain that I notice. I am 49.

Any advice? Suggestions?

Forgot to add that in last 6 months moved house and job so guess stress may have played a part. But why isn't the weight coming back on when I make such an effort to eat.

This happened to me twice; basically the tests showed nothing untoward and once I logged what I ate, it was simply that I wasn't eating enough and, through doing a lot of walking and lifting, I was burning more than I took in. I put the weight back on by having a couple of scones each day. Now I'm looking more into a proper healthy plan of eating more protein and fat, but I'm still losing a pound a week. I can't even think where I'd eat more.

The doctor said I should count myself lucky *eyeroll

Have you been tested for coeliac disease?

I think your thyroid could be dicky, mine was erratic for ten years before I finally had antibodies tested and was put on meds, the blood tests were within the normal range, but I didn't feel well, I knew my thyroid wasn't functioning properly but the GP said it was fine. You sound hyperthyroid, possibly you are just within the normal range, but have gone up from what is normal for you. I would ask for it to be tested again. Do you know what your levels were last time?
Other than that, I agree that coeliac is possible, but you haven't had that many gut symptoms, and coeliacs tend to bloat (I am a probable coeliac, coeliac and auto immune thyroid disease often go together). Diarrhoea is common with an over-active thyroid.

I think you need to rule out coeliac disease too
