Would you do anything about this? (Slightly funny turn)

I think it was basically a head rush from standing up too quickly but I just blacked out (that is, everything went black, I was however still conscious as I managed to stagger to near the bed although I missed) my legs buckled and I fell to the floor.

I've gone wobbles after standing up before but never actually falling o the floor, I felt dizzy and sick after and had to stay there a few minutes.

ring your GP ASAP, or if you still feel unwell the NHS help line thingy sorry not in uk so dont know too much about it
As the total alarmist it could be a TIA or it could be nothing. If you do not want either above option try you local chemist
Hope you feel better soon

Thank you. I wonder if it was just low blood pressure so wasn't sure if it was normal when standing up too quick but perhaps not.

Feeling quite weak and dizzy now, just having a lie down then will ring the gp (they are shut till two now)

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being ott to ring for advice.

Good point about NHS helpline, in fact i am not sure if that's the thing to do before ringing the gp.

This has happened to me before. I got out of bed really quickly as I had slept in and immediately conked out. I didn't think much of it TBH and sat down for a bit to sort myself out before getting on with the day. I was only a teenager at the time which is probably why, if I did that now would call NHS Direct

Home BP monitor is a good idea. I think I have low and my dd often has high BP so would help us both possibly.

Theonlyone I had a similar thing when pregnant and it happened as I got out of the shower(I had bent over to put my hair in a towel) but put it down to hormones and went to work , a bit late after a sit down. I often go dizzy and have the blackness thing (it sort of rises in front of my eyes if I get up too fast) but never to this extent, bit of a worry in case I did it on the stairs or carrying dd I guess.

I have phoned the gp surgery and they have offered me a phone appointment tomorrow but said call if I feel worse. I do feel lightheaded and hungover for want of another way of explaining it ( I am not hungover but feel it I mean!) but bit better after a lie down and coffee.

I am Shock that you have to wait until tomorrow to speak to anyone. I rang GP today to arrange an appt for a prescription refill, the secetary was very sorry but the earliest appt I could get is 11am tomorrow. Still it will cost me â?¬60 sickening in itself. Take it easy if you can today and call the out of hrs GP or A&E if you feel worse. Hppe you feel better soon.

Were you crouching down for a while and then suddenly stood up? If so, it sounds like a classic case of postural hypotension - basically, when people stand up, blood tends to follow gravity and collects in the legs. Usually, the body responds by raising your heart rate and constricting blood vessels to ensure that your brain still gets the blood and nutrients it needs. But in some people, this mechanism doesn't work as well, and so they end up feeling light-headed when they stand. This sounds alarming, but it is in fact really common and nothing to worry about.

Pregnancy and being dehydrated don't help. See your GP just to check, but don't worry too much. Smile

I thought they may ring me back today too canyou but she just said to call back if I felt worse. Still feel pretty drained but am not getting much sleep and stressed recently so that probably doesn't help.

Struggling yes I sort of was, I had been sitting down on thr bed a few mins , just enough time to write a quick email on the ipad but my head would have been bent down to type if that makes sense.

Thanks that sounds like it could have been, would that cause a faint/colappse type thing too? I always have low blood pressure and have reynards phenomenon and tend to go lightheaded when cold too so could all be just how I am then hopefully. Not currently pregnant btw (I hope anyway as am due on any day!)

The doctor called today and said vasovagal episode which I think (if I have understood it properly) is the same as struggling said but a different name?

Anyway she wasn't concerned and said that some tablets I am on will have made those light headed moments worse so just be careful when standing up and don't do it suddenly.
