Hi. Slightly worried and looking for advice. Have felt a little poorly for a week or so. Thought i had a virus. The last few days have had a sore breast. This morning woke up and it was even more painful. I checked and felt a large ish lump. Its sore to touch and i feel poorly. DH has also felt it. I am going to try and get an appointmen tommorow but we are slightly cut off by floods and keep having power cuts. So, just wondering how urgent this is??? Thankyou in advance.

I'm glad you are getting it checked, I would be a little concerned about the fact that it is making you feel poorly - that suggests an infection. I have no medical knowledge but at a guess - perhaps an abcess of some sort? - I would get it checked sooner rather than later.

Just noticed you posted yesterday - so have probably seen a doc by now- I hope everything went OK, and you feel better soon Smile

Hope you've been to see someone. I've had various painful lumps they've always been checked out thoroughly.

Does sound odd that you are ill as well - either a coincidence or an infection.

Are you breast feeding?

I was, i gave up abput 8 months ago and prior to that i was only BF once at night, for around 10 months. I have seen the out of hours Dr. She said the lump is around 2 cm and moves. Sad Its VERY sore. She has given me Anti biotics and told me to see own GP on monday. There is a family history of breast cancer so obviously slightly concerned.

Sad I do wonder if it's something connected with having breastfed.

I wondered that too. I never had mastitis when i was BF. I asked the dr if it could be linked and she wasnt sure. I will see how the anti biotics go. Fingers crossed!

Hopefully you will start feeling better soon. I had mastitis once and another baby had an infected duct or something which they lanced. The pain was erm considerable Wink

I had a really painful lump on my breast just before Christmas. It was really red and inflamed and I was worried because I didn't feel all that great generally.

Luckily it turned out to be an infection and cleared up when my GP prescribed some strong anti-biotics. It took the best part of three weeks to subside and the anti-biotics made me feel terribly sick, but they did the trick.

Wishing you well, hopefully your situation will be similar to mine and sorted soon.

Thankyou ShebaQueen. Glad to hear you had a postive outcome, although 3 weeks is a while to be poorly. I get sick too when taking antibiotics, manged to get some Cyclazine from the the dr today to try and keep it at bay. On the outside i cant see any inflamation or redness, i am getting horrid shap pain though.
