Has anyone else been diagnosed with Tinnitus?
Do you have any scans to confirm its nothing else or is that only if you have other symptoms?
Thanks

I have tinnitus in my right ear. I had an MRI as one-sided tinnitus is unusual and can indicate a tumour in the auditory nerve.
The MRI was fine, I still have the tinnitus, but have learnt to live with it.

My husband suffers from severe tinnitus and had an MRI scan. This was to see if he had a tumour that is known to cause tinnitus. I was very worried but the consultant audiologist explained that the type of tumour they were looking for is not malignant and would be removed if necessary. He didn't have a tumour and the relentless tinnitus continues to plague him!

Thanks for the replies. I'm not 100% sure if it's both ears! sometimes I think it is but it's quite loud on one side and higher pitched static. At first it didn't bother me but it's been going on for almost six months and starting to drive me up the wall. It's all day..

I might see the doc, but feel a bit stupid so will see.

thanks again.

I have had mine for 30 years, I am afraid you have to learn that it is a friend and not the enemy as it can drive you mad otherwise.

I suppose it's driving me mad because it's on the one side and like most people, looked it up on the internet. It says to get it checked but I've spent quite a few appointments lately at the docs for various things, I keep thinking he'll think I'm a nut job after attention. So I'm trying to ride it out.

It was symptomatic of Meniere's disease for me. Also had an MRI to rule out other problems.

Mine started with one sided tinnitus . I went docs and got the usual "0h it's prob a bit of an infection it will clear up"that was 6years ago. I was lucky back then because it came and went came and went. I would have it for 5 or 6 weeks at a time then it would just stop. Since December 2012 though it just seems to be there all the time without much deviation. I have never abused my ears and not owned an iPod and it just literally came out of the blue one day when I was ironing.

Thanks. I won't bother with separate appointment, I'll just mention it when I get my next repeat meds.

Had it all my life, both ears. Just constant ringing.

You get used to it.
