Painful left jaw locking and sticking

My jaw on my left side is really painful just below ear. Especially in the morning after I wake. When I try and open it fully it sort of pops?/hurts. It really feels sore.

What could have caused it and will it go away on its own accord?

I have this. A bad flare up is worse than child birth.

I take a low dose of amitriptyline daily and find it has eased loads lately.

Definitely see a dentist as they can help with exercises that may help.

Thanks a lot. I am in a very stressful phase at the moment so it's probably no coincidence. I've got a rubber tooth mould made years ago when whitening teeth. I think I'll sleep with that. See if it makes a difference.

Otherwise will see dentist next week
