Lump in Dp neck/throat - worried

Dp has a lump on the front of his throat.

Its to the left of his Adam's apple where his beard line is.

It's about the size of a marble and is hard, but he can kind of grab it and move it.

It looks a bit red and is sore, but he thinks that's because he's been poking and prodding it.

It grown since yesterday and he first noticed it on Friday evening, didn't tell me until last night.

Any ideas? I'm going to get him an appointment tomorrow but could do with some reassurance in the mean time - too scared to Google Sad

Could be a thyroid nodule possibly - very very treatable. Definitely get that appt tomorrow instead of worrying. Knowing is much better than the anxiety. I hope you both feel better by tomorrow night.

Keeping everything crossed for you x

Could also be absolutley nothing. These lumps and bumps can show up after a low grade infection or cold or something. Please go the to doc though. I'll be checking this thread tomorrow and nagging you if you don't!

Thanks - I'm ringing for an appointment at 8 am.

I hope it's nothing. It's not like a gland and he's not had a cough cold or been unwell at all in the last few months.

I was thinking maybe a cyst or something.

Yep, cysts come under the nodule umbrella. Whatever it is, he's going to be ok you know. Let us know tomorrow, sending you good vibes :)

I am relieved it isn't lower down, the bit by your collar bone is the worst place to have a lump like that. So that's good news.

Please do get it checked out for peace of mind but it is far more likely NOT to be serious, than to be serious x

Thanks for your concern - Dp went to the Gp alone at 5 pm. She had a feel and said it's a cyst. Then told him he's put on weight and that needed to be addressed.

He said hang on I'm here about this lump I'm worried. She said "well it's nothing to worry about, it could be due to your beard, you haven't shaved for a few days, that could have caused it. Oh, how's your brother?"

Shock

He hasn't shaved due to the lump. I'm taking him to my Gp tomorrow for a second opinion.

Goodness that's lacking isn't it.

I think a second opinion is wise tbh. Just to be sure.

Hope the other GP is a bit more thorough and still says it's nothing to worry about.

Saw my Dr who was lovely, checked him thoroughly and thinks that it's a cyst that has become infected.

Have a prescription for a weeks worth of antibiotics and said to go back if it doesn't go down once Dp has finished the course. He also said if Dp develops any additional symptoms to go straight back.

We're both a little more reassured now.

Thanks again Smile
