Im having my 1st smear tomorrow and i'm abit nervous!

I'm 24, got 2 dds.
I've had 2 sweeps during my 2nd pregnany, are smears anything like that?
I'm also worried about my results!

Any advice or any thing to make me feel better would be appriciated :)

Please don't get yourself in a state. Having a smear test takes seconds and is nothing compared to having a baby. I had my first smear at 18 and I think raising the age to 25 is ridiculous. At thirty I had precancerous cells. Thank God it was detected early or I might not be here to tell the tale. Don't worry, it is a tiny bit embarrassing, but they've seen thousands of fannies and you are just like another car engine to an auto mechanic.

Oh bless you, easier said than done but try and relax! It doesn't hurt IMO but can be a little uncomfortable, Iv never felt any pain and I've had lots!
If your really nervous, take your I pod and listen to a few tracks

I suffer with anxiety so that isn't helping. I just keep thinking they'll find something.
I've not long had dd2 so I think my hormones are still abit crazy.

I've got no symptoms and no cancer in family.
but my head is still going into over drive!

I know the nurse :)
which oddly, makes me feel alot better.
She is lovely and has done my 6 week check ups!

Dont be nervous u wnt feel anything i never went for any until my 6 week check up with ny boy and it was abnormal and had to get cells lasered away and im so glad i did it just relax and realise its for the best

the point of the test is that if there is anything, they find it while it can be treated. In a normal state of mind you'd know that is better than leaving it until it is too late.

almost certainly you'll be fine. Takes two minutes.

Honestly it's literally nothing....it's over in seconds...it's NOTHING like having two babies... Try not to get in a state about it.

I suffer from anxiety too, MommyBird, and was terrified before my first smear.

But honestly, nothing to be worried about. It's not something anyone looks forward to (Yahoo! Smear test time - break out the bunting!) but it's really not bad. Do you do any breathing exercises for your anxiety? Those have been very helpful to me when having smears done.

It's not so much the smear itself its the fear that they'll find something. I found out a friend who i lost contact with years ago, lost her fight last year due to cervical cancer, she was only a few years older than me.
I don't know the details or if cancer runs in her family..

So that, mixed with my anxitey is making me very nervous.

Well, you'll get your results back soon enough and they'll hopefully give you some relief. I had convinced myself they would find something bad when I went for my first smear, but they didn't. That's the whole reason for having them - if you keep attending diligently, the odds of you being fine are absolutely in your favour.
