Strange breathing - 8 Month DS

I have noticed today that DS will suddenly start doing gasping type breathing for about 30 seconds then stops and is back to normal.
He isn't wheezy or coughing at all, and does it whilst happily playing.
I think it may be that he's just learnt that as part of his repertoire of sounds as he went through a phase of coughing for a while which the G.P said was just to make the noise, rather than due to any problem. iyswim.
Or could it be something else?
Thanks.

my dd the same age does this as well, she'll cough and even hold her breath for a few secs.
I think its just them exercising their muscles and practising sounds.
It's never worried me tbh

My 8 month old ds does this when he laughs or is excited.

Thanks..I know it's nothing wrong really, but didn't want to just assume so and find out it's something worse..I'll just keep an eye on him..

Apart from wheezing and coughing the things to check for with a baby are grunting, skin pulling up below the ribs or skin pulling in at the base of the neck at the front. If there's none of these signs of trouble and baby seems happy then I wouldn't worry immediately but just mention it to your HV if it carries on.

DS's first kind of laughing sounded more like gasping - maybe he's just very happy?
