Blood blisters (?) on labia

A couple of days ago a large blood blister type thing appeared on my labia,. Very big and sore and uncomfortable because of its position.. By the end of yesterday it had started bleeding so at least not as sore now but still bleeding a bit. Went to GP surgery this morning and saw specialist nurse who didn't think it was sinister but has made me appointment with doctor next Friday. Have a couple of much smaller, non raised ones also on labia but on top. One at least hss been there few months but hasn't bothered me at all. The ugly monster one has freaked me out and I am a bit frightened. Has anyone had something similar?

Ouch.

Any chance it could be herpes? I would recommend popping into your local GUM clinic (or whatever they are currently called). They have seen it all and can both diagnose and treat problems in this area.

No stigma attached, just people with their own concerns.

That's one of the things I wondered but figured the nurse would've recognised that? Guess I shall have to wait and see what GP says next week. Thank you.

Nurse wouldn't necessarily have recognised it and probably can't diagnose. Did she take swabs?

For expert opinion and advice a GUM clinic is best. Next Friday sounds a long time to wait.

No she didn't. Just read up some more and think it could be herpes. Looked for nearest GUM clinic but can't make the times. Will try and get an earlier GP appointment as sounds like swab may be good idea. This is not what I need right now!

It could be lots of things, maybe lichenl planus.
I have had a few fanjo problems of my own recently so have being doing a lot of googling.
I second going to your local gum clinic, you will possibly be referred there anyway. Our is really good and will see all patients within 48 hours.
Hope you get it sorted op.
Good luck

It does sound like herpes. A friend of mine has this, caight it from her ex-husband. She says the sores are like little red blisters, itchy and sore. Definately make an appointment at your nearest GUM clinic and get it checked out. If it is herpes they can give you anti viral medication.

Couldn't keep worrying for another week so got GP appointment this morning. Very relieved to say they are effectively just blood blisters. Can't remember the exact name but a type of haemangioma that is found on scrotum or labia. They may go, may get more etc. Just one of those things. Thanks all for your replies!

My 1 year old was born with a birthmark on her labia. Since she's been more mobile it's occasionally been bleeding and this week took her to the doctor. She is being referred to a dermatologist to look at getting it removed. This weekend it's become worse and she's screaming everytime she wee's because it's stinging. I've started using Vaseline as a barrier but it's not really helped. The DR said to use sudo cream and talc but it seems to have made it worse. Any suggestions or similar experiences would be great!

Sorry I see this was a few years ago, but I am having the same issue myself and it's making me feel very self-conscious.. If you don't mind me asking, did yours end up going away?
