toddler with strange red rash on crease of elbow - what is it ?

hello everyone - i am new to the website !

just have a question about my son's rash - it is on the crease of one elbow and appeared about 1 week ago. he is just over 2 y o. i have tried all kinds of lotions, herbal and organic plus medicated stuff from the chemist such as insect bite cream and anti-histamine taken orally.

nothing gets rid of it. he doesn't have any allergies - never had eczema. still breastfeeds.

Could it be a simple heat rash, if so, why is it spreading instead of getting better ? i noticed some pimples on his knee this morning.

Please help !

Hello and welcome!
My Dd has similar sounding rashes at the moment and they are heatrash but if you are at all uncertain then nip your Ds to the doctors or the pharmasist. Does it go down when he has a cool bath?

Hiya

what does it look like? Is it crusty? Does he have much contact with other kids?

Impetigo starts off looking a bit like ezcema but is contagious and needs treatment

yes, it does get better at some hours in the day, it seems to be ok in the morning, gets very itchy towards evening

when i put creams on it it seems to help with the itching

it looks pink or red with lots of tiny pimple clusters close to each other, it seems to have spread from the crease in the elbow down his arm - just on one arm and one knee at the mo

he has contact with other kids in the playground, play group and swimming pool

a friend of mine has two toddlers who both have a rash on various parts of the body, but we saw them about 3 weeks ago, my son only got it earlier this week, so I don't think he got it from my friend's kids unless it takes a long time to spread

problem with my gp is she is never sure of her diagnosis, so usually i find seeing her a bit pointless, my friend goes to the same surgery and was sent off with total uncertainty so i know i will get the same !

my phramacy seemed a bit more certain, saw my son's arm, said it was nothing serious, not eczema, suggested i give him zirtek and insect bite cream, which i have done for 2 days, no improvement so far : (

sounds like heat rash to me.
Ds has a rash like this at the moment ,inner elbows, behind knees and back of neck.
He does get excema aswell although it's much better now he's older ( 4 in sept).
I use his hydrocortisone cream if the itching is bad at bedtime, have also given antihistamine.

I've got a heatrash in my elbow crease ... when I put cream on it seemed to make it worse. I've noticed a few pimply type things that have appeared.

I searched online & they suggested antihistamines, being in air con room (work is air -con'd so that didn't help) & keeping cool. Also not having baths too hot. They also suggested cool thin shirts, but I found any fabric irritated so am wearing vest tops.

Am hoping it will go away soon. It is sooo annoying
